Jake
Sorry but if a site/server has failed to take adequate security measures to protect themselves/their customers and someone exploits that, who is at fault? So if you forget to lock your car while you go in to pay for your petrol it's OK if I nick it? Pete
So if you forget to lock your car while you go in to pay for your petrol it's OK if I nick it? So that's how you're surviving unemployment! I thought better of you than that.

Lewis
So if you forget to lock your car while you go in to pay for your petrol it's OK if I nick it? I'm not saying it is OK, I have never said I agree with it. My point would be that you only had yourself to blame. If I leave my keys in the ignition, car running and sat on a pikey campsite and then went shopping for two hours....... Yes, I should have been able to leave it there without fear of theft, however, would it be my own fault? Of course it would. I should take steps to safeguard my property to a sufficient level which makes it very difficult for someone to interfere with it. Having worked in internet security for some time, I think I have a sound footing for making the comments I make. If people do not agree then fair enough, I don't try to change opinion. My opinions are required for the work I do, if people all thought "it's ok, noone will exploit our site because there is no point in it" then that site wouldn't last very long. I happen to know the exploit used on the 350z site and it is automatic. No skill involved AT ALL. A quick google search brings up the sites which are vulnerable and then it's about 3mins to exploit it. I'm not impressed at all but at the same time, I am not surprised. my2p

Alex
Can I just say...the hacker looks like a grade A COCK...I mean FFS get a life... Two fingers up? WTF is the point in hacking a forum exactly?? You're not exactly saving the planet and uncovering conspiracy's are you? I can't stand idiot hackers...can you tell? I mean what a f**king waste of talent! If they can do this they could probably do something far more worthwhile. Chop the little sh1ts hands off for lacking ambition...

All the people in the middle of perchasing parts from other members unable to communicate, all the people trying to log on to desperately search the tech forum to try and find out why their car wont start, all the traders that have paid to advertise losing out on business, jamiep unable to host cool videos of himself mono wheeling on his new beast...............i could go on!It did once, not that long ago. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=49275

MARTIN R
Bit of a strong view on this one......... Someone should find that prick and break all his fingers so he can never use a keyboard again. Could not agree more
Keith C
Meh, I see it all the time - some kid has a script, that he didn't write, that he uses to break any forum he finds running the right old version of whatever forum it is. PHPBB is a favourite target, as being free it's very common, but as Lee says, it happened to us once. We knew we were vulnerable, we took a chance and missed that time, since then we've been more careful.
EddyS
Hmmm, i'm worried about my site now. If I use a hosting company to host my site, I imagine they sort out the security for me?

Darren-K
If you disable images and css you can view the board. Doesn't look like it's been used in a while. Covered with spamming and crap. It looks like they're using phpBB 2.0.8 which is donkeys old! (2004?) 2003-2004 i used it for ages then got fed up with its instabilities,. i use a wicked free forum software now http://www.simplemachines.org/
