Forgot to post this as my internet wasnt working last night.

Was to a Shell garage to empty their supply of Optimax last night. When I got out of the car a guy was arguing with his misses. It wasnt too heated so I carried on filling the Supe. Could just about tell that the wife had put petrol into their diesel.

So I went to pay and whilst in the que I see the husband get in the car and drive it round the side of the forecourt, all of about 10 metres, out of view.

When I return to the Supe, the wife is on her knees, sucking on a length of hose thats been shoved into the petrol tank!!!

Really wish i had stopped to take a photo, but the bloke didnt look too pleased so I carried on my journey...

Were they just going to syphon it out all over the road or what?

got no idea. they didnt have any jerry cans or anything. im guessing maybe there was a drain near by. so probably the nearest river is now nicely polluted:rolleyes:

Why is he a dick?

She put the wrong fuel in there.

what made you think I mean the man?

whichever one it was there are better ways of sorting the problem than dumping a load of fuel somewhere... I'm sure it might have cost one of them money but tough luck.

Apparently it's not that big a deal (the fuel mix-up; I'm not going to comment on the knees and sucking...damn). You just need to drain it re-fill with the correct stuff, and make sure you burn through it quickly. The car will run rough and smokey for a little while, then settle down again.

I thought it was worse when it was petrol to diesel or something?

Yeah the petrol will dilute the diesel, but with a drain and re-fill, that dilution will be minimal. And as I said, you'll want to burn through it quickly. Colleague managed to get away with half a tank of petrol, half of diesel. He just burned through it, topped up quickly with diesel and it's fine. He didn't even try draining the petrol.

Diesel fuel pumps aren't very fond of petrol and I've known of instances where they've had to be replaced(£800 for a VW 7 seater jobbie and that was direct from Bosch). I don't think diesel in a petrol is much of an issue.

On a side note, what an idiot for making his partner syphon it out. Yes, mistakes happen but there's a right and wrong way to deal with it.

I just have to say it since no one else has - did nobody else think something else when they read "she was on her knees sucking on a hose....."? Jeez, my mind must be so twisted and distorted with sexual images

Well I hinted at it, but I think it either went over their heads, or they treated it with the contempt it deserved :D
