lockys96
Right, got my car down at Toyoda-Tech now, see there is another silver soop there, The guy says i should have provided 10-30 oil, i supplied silokene pro-s 10-50 he recons its too thick, and wouldnt lubricate the parts as well as the 10-30, he even showed my the standard sticker on the silver soop, which says 10-30, so he is putting it down as wrong oil fitted,i have spoken to opie oils and have re-assured me its fine, just wanted to know what you guys were running, and if any of your run the same engine oil and have been doing so for some time. i found out i need new rear tyres, which i have supplied as they have been sitting in the garage, didnt think the tread was bad. and i knew i had a rust hole in my superdragger, but it has a split line as well. just hope i dont wreck my new rear tyres completly on next months trackday, lol:)
Ian W
the oil you have sounds fine to me mate, i wouldn't worry about it as it's a pretty common choice for Supe owners. bad luck with the dragger btw, you gonna repair or replace?

lockys96
ah, opie oils are speacilists, but not matter what i told this guy, like they supply that oil for loads of supra owners and is what they recomended, im sure it will be fine, i think he would just prefer to run what is stamped on the car, so he can cover his back, i also had fitted, the slightly larger oil filter from a lexus, for better filtration. As for the super dragger, still cant believe that passed the MOT last november, is made out of monkey mild steel hay, i will go in the classified section and look for one thats not made of monkey metal and doesnt rust, i may as well get a full double decat as well, although im not sure how many DB this will be for my trackday, its got to be under 105db Thanks guys Si
Guest dee_rz
10-50 would be fine but after learning alot more on oils and research etc i have found 10w-30 to be the best to use, i have 10-50 pro s in mine at the mo but while it has been off the road ready for the big single to go on i have bought a nice new oil filter and 10w 30 tri syn mobil 1 which i regard as the best you'll be fine on that though locky don't fret. Digsy
You mean you can actually get a decent brand 10w30? I can't seem to find one anywhere - not over the counter at any rate. Where did you get yours?
Ian C
Having inspected my cams and shims after a couple of years of using 5w50 they are squeaky clean and shiny with no obvious wear. If that helps. -Ian
