CJ
I have my email set up with google mail but for some reason it has decided not to send anything. I have several emails waiting in my in my outbox and am unsure what to do about it. When I send I get the error message that says - Task "pop.gmail.com - sending reported error (0x80004005) blah blah. What else can I check? CJ
Are you using Norton anti-virus ? No. I got rid of that and started to use NOD 32. It has been fine for ages and just started to play up today.

BASHTHEBISHOP
That message is usually the result of not authenticating to the outgoing server, having an antivirus scanning outgoing mail (never necessary), or having the server timeout set too low. Try:- http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13278&query=pop3&topic=0&type=f&ctx=en:search Basically... Check the properties of your AV scanner to see if it is configured to scan mail and, if so, disable that feature. For some AV programs, it seems to be necessary to uninstall and reinstall them without that feature. For outgoing server authentication, look on the Outgoing Server tab of your account properties pages. How to display that is Outlook version-specific. The server timeout value is on the Advanced tab of your account properties pages. Hope that helps.
Gamer
This was all I could find mate.... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329936&Product=out2003 If the anti virus program that you are using does Script blocking, then you need to disable that I believe. The NOD 32 anti virus progarm was scanning the outgoing mail so I have uncecked that 9althgough it has worked fine for months) but the outgoing mail still is not shifting due to beinmg unable to connect to the server. CJ
This is really pissing me off now. I press send /receive and it happily says all complete and yet the mail is still stuck in my outbox. It is now not even showing an error!

Just to see if that's what is causing the problem like Yes, tried that but still not working properly. The thing is, it has been working fine for the past couple of months and nothing has changed. CJ
I think there must be a server problem as the old mail in my outbox has now gone but a new test i have just sent is stuck there.
