garetheves
I found that Tesco and Direct line were pretty good (same company i know b ut you used to be able to haggle with them a lot, also elephant. Direct line now do that thing where named drivers can get their own NCB as well so that may be something to consider.

S7EVE
I think I was insured with Clarke Roxborough when I was 17... a local broker. Might be your best bet to check out a few local firms. Car insurance at 17 is a pain in the ar5e, but gotta be done. - what Pete said... When was the stag do??

Angarak
Have you tried Admiral - they have annoying adverts but their quotes for young drivers are usually good.
Whitesupraboy2
when i was 17 and came to insure my first car it was about 2k tpft for a 1.1 mk2 fiesta

Big Ads
Make sure you quote the lads mum as a named driver that will bring the quote down by hundreds.

sooper-supra
try... these http://www.aquote.co.uk http://www.quotea.co.uk
Swampy442
I hate insurers, robbing twats that they are, should put some of their millions of pounds profit a year into helping younger drivers. Tried Sky? Failing that, try junior chav mags like max power etc, they must have some good numbers
Angarak
Sell the polo and get fiat uno (toaster on wheels) - im pretty sure they are the cheapest car to insure as no one wants to nick them
i-macca
I doubt you'll get any better than that price on that car to be honest, insurance for 17 year olds is shocking now. My friends little brother just got his first car, battered up 1.0 Micra worth about £100 and they want about £1200 to insure it third party... I also personally think insuring under your parents is a false economy as you won't earn any NCB and they'll then sting you when you do eventually get your own insurance. The insurance will also play merry hell if there's an accident and the son is driving. Named driver or not they will claim that you're breaching the terms of the insurance as they were using the car more than the main driver... Heard it happen many times! Pig
I know it happens lots but unless you admit to driving it all the time there is nothing they can do! Had a case recently at work when this happened. took 3 months to get the car back though!
Nathman
try asda insurance they were pretty good when i was 17, was insured on a nissan sunny 1.6 sr for only £600 2nd driver. I would definitely recommend Asda insurance, I have my Supra insured through them and it was the cheapest quote I could find. It was only £100 more than my Audi A6 1.8t
