jason m
Hi all - I am J spec tt 6sp with the jap brakes but am upgading the fronts to uk specs via cj's group buy. Question for normal and fast road driving what does everyone recommend - seems to be CW's road pads against the porterfields...
SkyJawa
I've got the porterfields on my converted to UK brakes jspec - well happy with them. Not tried CW so can't comment on comparison!

Nick
Been using CW's pads for a couple of years, nice bite but they fade fast on Jap brakes, should be spot on with UK's.

Gaz Walker
Porterfields Check out the group buy thread, still got some left: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13940 Gaz.
Chris Wilson
I have fast road and race spec UK pads in stock. The race spec ones have awesome bite, and you will NOT fade the pads! They make dust and noise though. The fast road ones are as quiet and dust free as stock pads, (which i also have).
Paul Laing
Which last the longest? Is the noise from the race pads annoying loud or are they worth the noise? Paul
Chris Wilson
Given similar usage the race ones last longer. They can be pretty noisy if not used really hard for a while. If you intend serious track day usage you need the race pads, if you operate on the road you don't.
outatime
I've got the CW fast road pads - can't fault them. They made a huge difference to my J-spec brakes...
Guest Terry S
I will vouch for CW's Pads being better than any others I have tried. Chris, do you still sell intermediates?
Matt B
I've just had the KAD conversion with porterfields and must say that I think they are very good. Only thing I would say is that you do get a lot of dust from them. I think the poterfields are cheaper as well.

Darren
I'm running Porterfield Race pads. Loads of dust, a little bit of squeal and MEGA stopping power!! I'm in the group buy too and am going to order UK Race Porterfields when I get my new brakes.
Scooter
Running CW race pads (no other mods eg braided lines etc), great performance would buy CW's again. Squeal, windows up and stereo on = not an issue summer and windows down - may be too much (don't know yet!) Dust would be an issue if i had any alloys to worry about! used daily at this time of the year (say 150miles a week) and with only a weekend clean your wheels could suffer. Good wheels and i'd go for the road spec pads.
SimonB
I don't think there's anything much wrong with the stock ones on UK spec brakes, unless you're doing some serious track running. Mine have never faded, and I've done a couple of track days.

Mine have never faded, and I've done a couple of track days. i would agree with this, only upgraded when i changed cars and went from UK to j-spec brakes. Never felt the need to upgrade when i had my UK car.
jason m
Thanks all - looks like CW's road pads are the ones to go for...
Mad Ad
If the pads are squealing just chamfer a small leading edge on the contact area with a small file. This should help.
