Mas
Hi guys this might not be a new question in forum but Im having difficulties deciding whether go for profile 35 or 40 at the front? I will be having 285/35 rears, and I see many of you guys have 245/40s with it in your wheels, Can you please advise which profile and why? as I think 35 front will nicely match with 35 at the back but are there any problems with that that no one has done it ? + would you think for the front 255 would be better or 245 , to go with 285 that are at the back. Cheers folks
Bobbeh
You usually have a higher tyre profile at the front to your rears.. so 40s would be what to go for. Stocks are 235/45s on the front so you wouldnt be too far off that with 245/40s on 18s.
Nic
Mas, you'll want 18/40/245 on the front, 18/35/275 or 285 on the rear.
Jake
Mas, The aspect ratio (profile) of a tyre isn't a measurement in millimeters like you might think, it's a percentage of the width. So a 285/35 would have a higher sidewall height than a 275/35 would have. Because 35% of 285mm is more than 35% of 275mm. This is why you have a higher number profile tyre on the front - because the tyre on the front is narrower. Do you see what I mean?

So as you both said guys I better go with 245/40s then, that was important to know as Im trying to get the fron tyres sometime soon. cheers guys
Bobbeh
Just to confuse you I run 285/30s at the back but a lot of people here use 285/35s Basically if you have the width much different at the back than the front then you start compromising the understeed/oversteer characteristics. If you're going for 285s at the back I'd fit 245's at the front.

Bobbeh
Sound a bit oversized on 8.5 fronts? Is that so you have a nice protective tyre wall?

Bobbeh
I have 9 inch fronts with 245s, no rubbing, nor on my rears. But I have heard of some with rubbing on 285/35s on 10 inch rears, especially Arons UK spec when he went to the ring, that was rubbing like mad.
