i'd say its possible without one.........depends on your experience, competence and enthusiasm! do you have any mates that could help etc....

.....however its the sort of job that could leave you having to transport the car if things don't work out, whereas it could (probably) be driven to someone to fix.

TBH for me its the sort of job that i'd bit the bullet and pay someone to do.......

Oh please no dont say that!

Worn valve stem seals is to be expected with high mileage/age and isn't anything to worry about as far as I know. It just means your car burns a little oil sometimes. (i'm not very technical though, sorry).

i've had two instances of yellow/low level oil warning light........neither were the above.

One was the oil pressure sensor switch and one front crank seal gone.

I'm pretty sure turbo seals and Valve stem seals will show other more obvious and gradual symptoms before the low level warning light........

My car has burnt through the 500ml of oil necessary to cause the low-level warning light to come on now twice in the last few months. The difference between low and middle on the dip-stick (and the warning light on or not) seems to be about half a litre.

Just wanted to add another possibility into the equation anyway.

get it inspected first sean and see what it is, am happy to help you out but we must remeber this is a private import with my fee being only £500 and i have went into that already to help but can only help so much we do have to remeber the cost of the car and it was grade 3.5 so it will need few minor issuses sorted i did sugest clutch might be on its way out.

best thing to do is get it checked and will help as much as i can but because its a private import i am limited to a cerain amount with the funds as i dont want to be in a position were i dont make anything and then the car will be a similar to a grade 4 which would of cost more in the first place i hope u know what i mean.:)

Sean, stop panicking, I doubt things are as bad as you think. People forget these cars are renowned for their reliability. you'd have to be the unluckiest person alive to have half the problems that people have metioned here. I've no doubt that your clutch is knackered and needs replacing, but this is just down to wear and tear, clutches wear out, its a fact of life. Its no big deal if the rear crank seal has blown, while the clutch is getting done, its not a big job to fit a seal while the gearbox is off.

At least once you have a new clutch fitted, it'll be piece of mind for you that its all brand new under there.

Good luck with it matey.
