Muffleman
What a nice drive home Had a better chat with Gary, the wiring fault was the throttle lead from the boost controller was grounding out. Gary has now tidied all the wiring, properly insulated everything etc. The boost controller still has problems, it is showing 100% throttle all the time, and isn't controlling the boost properly either. Gary has spoken to Trial and has agreed that I will take off the boost controller, send it to trial and they will set it up properly for my car, then send it back. Whilst that is happening, I will determine the fuel pump and measure the static pressure. Any guides anywhere on doing this ? I have attached the dyno print, and it's not all bad news. The turbo isn't too laggy for my taste. 398rwhp at .9bar isn't exactly spectacular, but with low fuel pressure and a sensible map then I'm not too concerned. The torque curve looks okay to my untrained eyes, 320lbft at less than 4k on low boost. Tell me if I'm looking at this through rose tinted glasses, but I'm not at all disappointed. Where I am much happier is the way it drives, and clearly Gary can map Just didn't want to get out of the car by the time I got home, so I didn't - I went off for another drive Pulls very smoothly right past 7k and moves through the gears well. Oh, and definite flames popping whilst embarassing a Jag S-type R Yes we've got to sort the fueling pressure and possibly the pump, but I'm a lot happier than I was after the last visit. On the fuel pump, IF it is the 280lph Sard unit, that's 4.6litres of fuel per second. Is this really not enough if we get the pressure up ? I'm confident that we can get over 600rwhp I also believe gt-art have done a good job and given me a good base to work off of. Incidentally, according to their invoice, as an HKS official dealer and in line with KPS Pro Dealer Policy, the map is password protected
LeeT
Nice to see you are getting things sorted. I would say get the 2nd pump for piece of mind. The walbro's that everyone uses are rated at 255lph and i think IanC is putting decent power down on one of these. Maybe worth asking his opinion. i put two stock UK spec pumps in for piece of mind and futureproofing. i wouldnt be too happy about the password thing though
Muffleman
i wouldnt be too happy about the password thing though No mate I'm not, but what can I do ? I was thinking about this and I actually own the map, I've paid for it and it's on my ecu. But what can I do ? Bog all I suspect.
Jake
I will determine the fuel pump and measure the static pressure. Any guides anywhere on doing this ? See this 2nd post in this thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=74014 I have attached the dyno print, and it's not all bad news. The turbo isn't too laggy for my taste. 398rwhp at .9bar isn't exactly spectacular I think it's showing Engine HP rather than rwhp. 0.97bar is practically 1 bar. Still loads better than mine though. Incidentally, according to their invoice, as an HKS official dealer and in line with KPS Pro Dealer Policy, the map is password protected What ECU is it? If it's a V Pro it's always going to be passworded. HKS insist on it. You couldn't do anything with it anyway, not without the HKS software and dongle. Anyway, glad to see you're gettinng somewhere with the car now. Must be a big relief.

Yup, v-pro and it wasn't so that I could have a fiddle, it was in case I wanted another HKS dealer to have a fiddle in the future. Thanks for the link
Jake
I think the way it works is that one HKS mapper will let other HKS mappers have the password if they ring them directly. That's seems to be how it works with the Motec guys that password 'their' maps anyway.

Scooter
glad you guys are getting these monsters (semi) sorted. Not that it ever going to be an issue for me! but I don't think i could put up with being effectively held to ransom by the tuning company. Is not starting again with something like emanage not a viable option? ok i presume that someone would need to set you up initially but then aren't you free to play with this as you see fit? didn't IanC learn what he knows now from testing on his own car? is it just that Motec and V-pro are that much better features wise?
