Sharpie Posted July 6, 2006 Share Posted July 6, 2006 Let's say I'm upgrading my UK 550cc low impedance side feed injectors for some 650cc's Is there any benefit to keeping with low impedance injectors using my resistor pack OR what's stopping me removing the resistor pack and using high impedance injectors ? OR are high impedance injectors slower to open the bigger the flow rates are, compared with the low impedance ones that take extra juice to open ? OR are high impedance injectors slower to open the bigger the flow rates are, compared with the low impedance ones that take extra juice to open ?Terry would be the one to answer this, but I'll have a stab at it The stock ecu (regardless of whether UK or j-spec) uses drivers that only suit high imp injectors, so to use low imp ones a resistor pack is needed. Low imp injectors perform better (open faster) in theory but you would need an after market to ECU to take advantage of this. Alex Posted July 7, 2006 Share Posted July 7, 2006 Peter, Lo-Imp injectors tand to run cooler and react faster....obviously this still relies on the quality of the parts, but from memory Ian's 720cc Lo-Imp injectors could be made to open for less time than my hi-imp 650's.....2ms or something like that...it might not sound like much but the better the injectors react the more accurately you can map etc. I would not remove the resistor pack. I would buy RC-Engineering 720's Lo-Imp. (Side Feed for the stock rail - Top Feed for an HKS/Titan/PHR). However you can remove it if the ECU your fitting has a Lo-imp driver built in. So the extra power/draw that is needed for the low imp injectors and allows them to open/close quicker means nothing unless you have adjustable control of them (After Market ECU) - that makes sense. After reading the article Terry posted, it seems like low impedance can be better if an after market ECU is used, but alot more expensive. Are there 650 side feed low impedance injectors available?
