Supragal
What doesn't she like about him? What does he do? Why did you get him so late? And he's still a baby, only just an adult- think about what a 18 year old boy is like, proper nightmare.

Paul
Have him done:d Dogs can be a bit of a handfull, get his knads removed and he'll calm down plus it'll prevent him getting cancer in them later in life. Paul
Supragal
Not a lot you can do about the dog smell as long as it is just dog smell. How about a comrpmise- he's not allowed in certain rooms? That kinda thing?
simonas
I'm going to sort his knads out in next couple of weeks the poor fella!!! He slept in the garage last night with the door open to back garden and he was fine. I'm hoping that if he gets into that then there won't be the pent up dog smell in kitchen in morning. I don't think theres any real smell as hes a short haired dog but she seems to pick up on it all the time

markymark
Can never understand that - but I guess some people just aren't dog people (& I am)! Maybe the garage is a good idea - kit it out for him too, so he doesn't get bored & start chewing everything in there. Plus, he's only a baby really so he should naturally calm down & get more settled - two young kids will excite any dog, young or old. Getting his knads chopped off can help, but make sure you are completely set on getting it done as it's a lot to put the dog through at a young age:scare: Was it a joint decision getting the dog? SteamAhead
My parents breed Bassets (as well as other breeds) and have one at the moment of similar age to your's. My dads trying to train her for Film & TV work (as the the other one is getting on a bit now, poor boy) at the moment he's having a few problems with her being a little lively. He's gonna try using the clicker system on her a bit more. This is where you make a certain sound when they do somthing they shoudn't....sure you must of seen it on TV, works pretty well. If you require, I'm sure I could get some info for you. As for the smell, yep Oust! him Jim
simonas
Was it a joint decision getting the dog? It was which is frustrating. I'd been around dogs in my life before but she has never had ne or had a relative with one etc. after our blazing row about hi yesterday where stupid threats were made by both of us she has calmed down but she does not like him. and if you saw him as well!!! raymanuk
Got any pics fella? The dog is trainable and is young. Dogs smell, they chew. They don't do as they are told from day 1. That is why we train them. If you have to get rid fella I would be very interested in taking him off your hands. We already have one dog that is 1 year old and are thinking about getting another so he has a playmate. Hope you get it sorted though.
