just been reading over on the FTO forum, one of their guys has hooked up a steering wheel with 2 buttons to the auto box so has the option to go in manu mode and change triptronically,

could this be done in the supe??? or could the trip bits from a post 97 be ordered and fitted to a pre 97 supe???

would it be hard to do???

any oppinions tech guys, all those citroen with trip adverts have convinced me that i need triptronic, (but not on a bloody citroen!!! :) )

no one havce any ideas on the above???

was talkin to dude about it n he thought there might be a potential problem because all the trip supes were VVTi, dont understand how that would affect it,

would it really be such a difficult job???

I've looked into it ..... got as far as moving the OD and Manu buttons on to the wheel..

Still haven't quite worked out how it 'll all hang together 'tho.

I think it'll be fairly easy to have seperate buttons for each gear , but the paddle style change will be tricky.

The wiring diagrams are on mkiv.com... there is an explanation of which solenoids do what when in each gear etc

It really needs someone with a lil more knowledge than I have.

I also emailed the Scandinavian guy that did a similar thing with the 300zx ....

He said he may be looking into a Supra version but that was prolly 2 years ago

does the trip supe have paddle style change???

i thought it just had up and down buttons on the steering wheel???

and presumably one of these could be sourced from either toyota or a stacked trip supe???

we need someone with some hard core supra teccy knowlage, anyone???

yup thats what i want,

but i wouldnt have a clue if it could be hooked up to work.

Apparently it wasnt too hard in the FTO thats done it, but in the FTO the manu override just has up and down, rather than gear selection like the supe man over ride has...

Well, I learned something - I thought it was a paddle shift but it is indeed all done with buttons.

There's four buttons to wire up though. There are some more pics here:

However.... *ponders*... a true paddle shift car would be unique! (a bit like the fabled manual TT Aerotop). What you need are some paddles (obviously). Time to start looking for a written off paddle shift car. The only ones I know of are Ferraris, Aston Martins and that new Citroen C2 (? The one that replaced the Saxo).

hmmm, wonder if you'd need another gear box then, and possibly another revometer, coz mine dosent havbe thgat LCD screan for gear, it just has the normal lights,

tastey TRD speedometer though, mmmmmmm!!!

is that supe anyones on the BBS???

Has anyone had the dash off the trip to see how it works, or has anyone worked on one that can shed any light????

That gear surround layout isnt too different from the non trip ones, it looks as though you just shift right to get into M 2 L where as we have the MANU button for M and 2 L

couldnt you check the part numbers for the actual autobox against the trip autobox - if its the same then i guess it would all be down to electronics ?!??!

it would be pretty cool if it could be done at moderate cost!

Here's the response I had from SupraStick:

Without detailed information on the exact model of transmission you are trying to control it is hard to tell you if the SupraStick is completely compatible. The Suprastick is designed to control 3 solenoid (2 shift solenoids plus lockup), mechanical line pressure controlled transmissions. For this reason, many newer transmissions are incompatible as they require electronic line pressure control to function correctly, which the Suprastick does not provide. The known compatible transmissions are the asin a340 series (and all jeep and other rebranded versions of this tranny - there are many).

Anyone know the details of the auto?
