Jake
(6sp VVTi) I'm checking my car over before it goes for mapping tomorrow. The exhaust cam has got one of those HKS adjustable cam gears (on the exhaust side only due to VVTi inlet cam) It should be in the stock postion, right? Only mine is set to 4 degrees advance. Should I put it back to 0 degrees before having it mapped? Thanks
Matt Harwood
IIRC Terry tried various different combinations when he first did his single conversion on the purple car. From what I can remember, there were gains to be had by advancing or retarding the cams, (don't ask me which combinations), but it was always a trade off somewhere else in the power bands. I believe he stuck to stock timing positions in the end which offered the best all-round. Best ask Terry for any finer details than that.

Alex
Is it a different cam Jake? Either way I'd ask them to find out what's best when mapping it.

Jake
Is it a different cam Jake? I think it's a HKS cam. According to the advert when I bought it: "HKS cams and pulley" but it can't have a non-stock intake cam, can it? Whether it's got a 256/264/whatever exhaust cam I don't know. I've looked through all the receipts and can't find one for cams.
