Guest freddyk
I recently bought a Supra TT which was like the dream drive of my life. 2 weeks ago, I pushed the car a little bit 3 mins after I start the car. After that I was feeling as if the car wasnt performing that it should have been, I couldnt feel the second turbo initiating, etc. I took the car to Toyota service(Jemca) in Kent which is one of the biggest services, left the car there and they told me today that car is performing as it should be. Was I daydreaming or was toyota service not checking my car properly? I'll get the car on Monday as timing belt is going to be changed too. So what can I do to know if everything is ok with the car and it's performing as it should have been. Do you know any experts that I can take the car to be checked or shall I rely on Toyota service? I would appreciate your answers as you had long experience with Supra and you would definitely know what to do in such a situation. thanks a lot
Bobbeh
Could be numerous things? The heat, spark plugs, fuel. Have you had it dyno'd to see if its putting out the power it should be?
Guest freddyk
Thanks for the reply. Could be numerous things? The heat, spark plugs, fuel. Have you had it dyno'd to see if its putting out the power it should be? Can it be fuel? It was half tank and 98 unleaded. I havent had it dyno'd. Do you know where I can do that? Shall I ask Toyota again to check the turbos or shall I take it to a motorsports specialist for further performance and turbo check?
gaz1
could be a boost leak, check all your pipes, athough if its in toyota they would test that anyway, you will not boost as nearly as much on a hot day as a cool one,

Bobbeh
Freddy, I recommend G-Force at Aylesbury. Also, going with a group of other Supras can be useful to compare dyno results, especially if there are some at similar performance levels.

That's great actually but Aylesbury is quite far for me, do they have a branch in Kent or in London?
Guest freddyk
If i place a movie here, will it help you to diagnose the problem?
Bobbeh
Possibly, put it up, I'm sure someone will be able to figure out whats going on Do you have a UK spec or JDM import?

Bobbeh
Probably just a split hose causing boost leak or something, check it over the next couple of days as the weather will be cooler and you should hear it whislting away sweetly
j80leo
could also be a knackered intercooler just taken mine off the smic and it was totally knackered just looked at the fins and they fell away they were so brittle
Guest freddyk
Thanks m8. I hope it is a simple leakage and it will whistle again as I couldn't hear the second turbo whistle last time I drove my baby, which made me nearly cry

Slightly off topic, is that the one at Sidcup? Wouldn't touch their servicing after they put the wrong gearbox oil in Keith's UK manual.
JohnA
I avoid going there even for parts, and they are the closest Toyota dealer to me.
pistonbroke
I bought coolant of them and an oil filter the other day, thats as far as it goes though, there is a guy across the road from them called Tech one, hes a Toyota specialist and he's worked on my MR2 tubby and the supra, his names Derek and is not scared to work on the supe. He's one of the rare genuine mechanics, I can't recommend him highly enough. His number is 02083020600. Back on topic though, you say you waited 3 minutes after startup and it wan't getting full boost, well, I should hope not. I'm sure there are safety implementations to stop the car boosting fully unitl its up to operating temp. Never boot the car until its properly warmed up. Guest freddyk
I took the car from toyota(which is in bromley) but this toyota services is a complete joke. they said that car performs properly and i insisted and told them to check the turbos and they said both turbos are functioning as it should so i took the car. they told me that they fixed other minor problems like cigarette lighter by changing a fuse but it wasnt working so i took the car to local electrician as i didnt want to wait another 3-4 days for just a cigarette lighter. I have been drving the car for a week, ok it's a fast car but not the car i've bought 2 months ago. i'd greatly appreciate if some supra tt owner can test drive my car and tell his ideas or hopefully even diagnose and so in return, i can fill his petrol tank as a gratitude or whatever he wants . i need someone to check my car and tell me if something is wrong or what is wrong with it as I will go mad. does anyone live in my area near bromley, sidcup etc? or shall i take to that garage in sidcup? thanks for all the help

I'm not a Supra owner but should be able to tell if you cars running on both tubbies... You need to find a Supra specialist. Theres a garage in London that Terry S and others recomended? Can anyone remember what its called...???
pistonbroke
Theres Supraman in Meopham, just down the A2 from you. His numbers 01474815332. The name says it all, he specialises in Supras. I'm off between Tuesday and Friday, I'm in Bexleyheath near to you. If you want to compare Supras, let me know.
