Scarface GTti
I`m looking to change my laptop for a Sony Vaio one as i`m a Sony freak. All my gear is Sony:love: . It won`t be for 2-3 months. Thing is i don`t know if my present laptop is worth anything. It would be handy to know as it will influence which new one i can have. I really don`t know anything about computers. Reading the label on the bottom of this one says its a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D 1840 W. Other than that i think it has 80gb hard drive. I only use it for the internet so i don`t know what else it does really. Is it worth anything or would i just throw it out as its a worthless piece of poo? Any ideas would be helpful. jamesmark
Sony are total crap at laptops, your paying for a fashion item not a laptop pure rubbish. You can get a higher spec for a fraction of the money.
Scarface GTti
I really like the look of the AR11 i think it is. The one coming out with Bluray. My mate has a Vaio one, not sure which model, but the glossy screen is really cool and i love the look of it. Plus when you`re as ugly as me you have to surround yourself with beautiful things! Scarface GTti
Actually to be honest, if someone who knows what they`re talking about says they`re crap i`d have to listen to it as i ain`t got a bloody clue! So what should i buy? Whats reliable and not cause me any bother?

Maybe but your something inside, unlike the sony where it maybe really nice looking on the outside but is nothing on the inside:d

i-macca
I bought a new Toshiba recently, only a bottom of the range one but I'm really impressed, good build quality and a fantastic screen (wide screen) but the battery life is a bit of a joke. Best laptops are IBM Thinkpads, very well made and very hard wearing. You do pay for the quality though. I'm an IT Techie for a uni and they insist on buying Ergo laptops, biggest pile of shite I've ever come across, avoid at all cost!

npotts
Sony are total crap at laptops, your paying for a fashion item not a laptop pure rubbish. You can get a higher spec for a fraction of the money. I would go as far to say that most Sony products are a load of crap full stop. Ive had a lot of Sony items such as TV's, video's, playstations, camera's and phone's over the years, and all of them have ended up with outrageously annoying problems along the line. Time and time again I fell for the brand name and 'coolness' of their product line. Not any more... Take my £1500 widescreen TV. Within a year, I now cannot watch the thing without the channel number showing along the top of the picture (all the time). My video, only records in black and white (really cool - not). My PS2 decided one day to stop working (its now a lamp). My W800i phone, doesnt take any pictures anymore because the button doesnt work (owned it for 3 months). My £500 Sony camera wont download pictures without me wiggling the connecting lead to find the 'exact' location for the f*cking thing to talk to my laptop (which incidently is an ACER - no problems whatsoever in four years of owning one)!! Sony = Shit imo.... Overpriced and unreliable load of cack Nick
