i-macca
Hi guys, Trying to sell my Sony PSP on ebay at the moment and it was bought early this morning using Buy It Now. Just received the following e-mail but it sounds a bit like a scam to me.. What do people think? Hello, Good day,I'm Herbert Davis from AZ USA,but Presently in Holland, for a church seminal. I saw your product item below on ebay # 120004212574 and i am really intrested in buying it for my son as a surprise gift for him in school(Abti American University )at Nigeria and Also let me know how much it will cost you in shipping the item to LAGOS NIGERIA with the courier service (ROYAL MAIL 1ST CLASS) & send me the total amount for the item including the shiping cost to Lagos Nigeria. I will be sending you payment via PayPal,so kindly send me your (PAYPAL EMAIL ADDRESS) so as to immedaitely make out your payment and make sure you get the package ready for shipment, you can ship the item as soon as you recieve the paypal confirmation. Expecting your reply so as to immediately make out the payment. Regards, Herbert Davis. The mention of Nigeria above anything else rings alarm bells, let alone the rest of it.. And asking for my paypal address as ebay would have given him that anyway..

Don't trust Paypal, as a seller you have very little rights if someone wants the item & their money back. Trust me, I've used it several thousand times. Rob
They pay you thru Paypal, you send the item, they receive the item, they withdraw the money back through Paypal. I think it's as simple as that. Paypal take the money from your bank account to cover the withdrawal?

toyotasuprauk
I've had this same scam tried on me. They tried sending an email that was a fake paypal payment ie a fake email that says you have been paid. Ebay were completely useless too I didn’t get a refund of listing fees as I reported it as a fraudster not a non paying bidder!
i-macca
I've reported a non paying bidder so will see what happens. Fingers crossed hey...
spackrackman
Ebay in my opinion are a bunch of tossers... I have had a few occasions where I have tried to get my fees back.. mostly due to Mr Nigeria and his western union.... etc etc.. they never quite payback what they owe you.. I have always recieved some slightly less random amount.. I guess its because they are so big that you will never get a personal service from the help... but it is a usefull service to sell apsolutely anything.. but now that they own paypal also. they take money off you twice.. they must be raking it in.... god damn them and there shitty money making ways.
