MaveriK
Just annouced it, he was close to tears reading his statement. he has been in my humble opinion a great captain who wore is heart on his sleeve and literally run his lungs off for his country. BASHTHEBISHOP
Is a shame but at the right time me thinks. So whos next, my bets would be gerrard or terry.
Rayman
Thats fair enough not a big issue in my opinion, more important issues are the manager, tactics and formation. Terry would be a good captain tho!
paul ashton
Terry for me.

Good guy, shame not much of a leader. Certainly cant compare him to the likes of shearer, adams, or even the irish Mr Roy Keane (Proper Captains)
stupra
Just annouced it, he was close to tears reading his statement. I thought that might be on the cards, shame though. Terry or Gerrard will take over, maybe Lampard ?.
MaveriK
I think Gerrard as he is starting to play for England as he does on a weekly basis for Liverpool. I am amazed how the press have rounded on him (becks) in particular for his world cup performances. If we look back he scored a vital goal and set chance after chance up with his range of passing. Frank Lampard though by his own admission had a stinker and has stayed out of the papers. As a nation we just love to attack sucessful people
Charlotte
I love Becks, such a nice bloke. Was really sad when he read out the statement. Not sure what kind of impact it will have on the actual England team, he's a bit hit and miss. I think Gerrard or Terry to take his place. Although possibly Owen will get it. Kopite
PLEASE NOT GARY NEVILLE!! No bias here but i'd seriously let Gerrard take over, he's inspirational for Liverpool and more vocal and a better motivator than Terry seems to be. Close call between the two though

Bobbeh
To wipe the slate clean for McLaren, people have said that Sven couldnt bring himself to drop Beckham even though he wasnt playing at his best. I think this was a very sad but smart move by David, and hes giving others the chance now hes moving over.. good on him

I think Lennon played better than Beck's when he came on to replace him, he's a good player that kid, should go far.
merckx
Beckham hasn't being playing well recently and he hasn't deserved to retain his place in the team. I'm sure any manager would find it hard to drop the Captain. He has to be applauded for making this decision, there was a big improvement when Lennon cam on yesterday. Unfortunately too late though. England's style of play was far too negative for me, it's hard to believe Erickkson was paid approximately 4 million a year for that.

Thats the bit that gripes me £4mil a year and all he's done is mess up with a quality group of players. Wrong formations, wrong decisions, just sh1te really:rolleyes:
Dave
Tbh i dont think mclaren gonna do any better than the swedish chef we need someone like venables or bobby robson someone with presence and passion.soon as we played the first game i knew we were in for an early bath.becks has been a good captain even if he was off form his presence on the pitch inspired the team and worried the oppsition my moneys on gerrad for capt.
