stupra
I totally agree, but you can only blame Ericsson for that, swapping half the team out during most friendlies. Hopefully the new manager will try an build the team up, like you say, the team changed all the time under Ericsson, how can they gel as a team when its differant each time they play ?. penguin
well done to portugal.
chilli
def our national team need much more time to play together. we have some totally world class players. Hargreeves was the star of the whole match and lennon and cole were fantastic also - in terms of talent they are up there with the best of them ronaldo actually looked pretty average, in fact most of portugal looked nothing special individually - but they worked as a team
Gordon F
Hopefully the new manager will try an build the team up, Who - the guy whose team finished 14th in the Premiership? He must be the most underqualified England manager of all time as well as being at least only third choice for the job. Dont hold your breath...... Jurgen-Jm-Imports
Hargreaves, Ferdinand and Terry were all MOTM for me. excatly what i said to my mate 5 mins ago, with hargreaves going to be big star:)
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
See the bit where Ronaldo nutted Rooney in the side/back of his head on the centre line just before the start of the game?? I think that boy is gonna be on the transfer list pretty rapid style. yer wtf was that all about think that was stepping over the line there by ronaldo there is winding up and going too far
peter richards
unlucky , just had a feeling it was going to go like that , although the keeper did make the saves . as we havnt got a national team , i feel for the likes of ryan giggs , hes one of the best players we have and its a shame he will never play on the world cup stage . if he had chosen england he would have been a legend

Jake
Sorry guys, he plays to win......he was onto Rooney even before the start of the game....psycing him up. Thats the difference between first and 2nd. Look at Schumacher, Mohd Ali, Aussie Cricket team....all the best sportmen do whatever it takes to win. - cant shoot ronaldo, he did whatever it took to get rid of the dangerman - i.e Rooney. Rooney should have been smart and let it be.He's still a cheating cunt. He was one before the World Cup started and he's an even bigger one now in my book. I hope somebody jumps out of the crowd at Old Trafford and stabs him in the heart. Seriously. Schumacher and Ali also cheated to win, interesting that you seem to approve of that. Which country do you support in sport? Seems you're not English, where are you from?
Dave
well gutted rooney didnt deserve a sending off for that .im going on battlefield2 find a portugese site and shoot all the bstrds.
Jake
ryan giggs if he had chosen england he would have been a legendHe's not eligible to play for England. That's why he plays for Wales.
Bobbeh
Dave, he stamped on the guys nuts, and then started pushing people about afterwards... his temper got the better of him yet again, you cant defend that whether he was aggravated or not. Jake, I heard Ryan could have been picked, but he chose Wales...sounds like a kop out.

Yeah I agree. This was a match where he had to keep his cool and he blew it big time. He even said that himself when they interviewed him. Bloody ell mate I like what you're saying for once Jake Portugal Manager: 'Try to wind up Rooney he might do something stupid' Ronaldo: 'OK boss he's my club team mate I know what to do wink wink' I'm going off football the older I get. It's too open to 'non football' influences on the result.
GazzaGSi
Gutted to say the least. Ronaldo got on my tits the entire match, falling over over like he'd been hit by a bulldozer even though he very rarely got touched! Personally, I do not think rooney new he was going to stand on him. He hasnt got eyes in the back of his head to realise carvalio had fell to the floor. As soon as he realised he raised his foot off him. I am so frustrated its unreal

CJ
Whilst I agree that the role of Ronhaldo was lamentable, I still think Rooney deserved to get sent off for the stam in the nuts. As for Mr. Giggs, he chose Wales over England apparently to get back at his Dad (who divoreced his Mum) who was English. What a difference that would have made to England eh? A superb left sided midfield player.

CJ
I would also go back to what was said in the begining. Yes, Ronhaldo was a twat, yes England did well to keep it to 0-0 but overall their performance in the tournament was awefull. The got through the easiest group to meet one of the weakest nations and yet not once did they look like a side capable of listing the trophy. Bobbeh
Rubbish Its true Jake, Giggs couldnt face playing for England. Personally I dont think hes the sort of player who could handle the pressure. Anyway, why are we chatting about Giggs, hes too old anyway now
Jake
Care to elaborate or has the drunken stupor already kicked in?Sure. Ryan Giggs is Welsh, his mother is Welsh, his father is Welsh. He never turned down the chance to play for England because he was never offered it. He was never offered it because he is not eligible to play for England. I know the welsh/scottish/etc etc would love it that he 'turned down' England but sadly for you Celts it's not true. I've heard Giggs himself says it.
