Rob
FFS. Further to my last thread about this... I've bought a new Dell PC, and I've got my old Sony laptop. They are connected with a X-over patch to their respective 10/100 network cards. Both run XP Home, both are in the same workgroup, both have C: shared, both appear on each others screen in Network Places, the connection is there, I use the Dell PC as the Internet gateway, and I'm actually typing this on the laptop connecgted to the web through the Dell. I still can't browse one from the other, it keeps saying stuff about Logon type and admin rights. Both PCs are user account Administrator, why won't it f#'##ing work,arrghghghhhhh!!!!1 I f###ing hate Windows.

Jake
Do the accounts you're using have blank passwords? They mustn't have blank passwords for what you're trying to do.
carl0s
Yup. If it's the message we think you're getting, it actually says "Possible causes may be user restrictions or blank passwords not allowed" in the error message.
Rob
OK, I've given them passwords now, but it still says the same "\\(laptop name) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found." Arg, I'm the administrator, they're both my computers, I bought them. Once I've transferred all the stuff I want, I want to set up a wireless network, but is this still going to happen with that. I tried the "Transfer files" wizard, and that wouldn't let me connect either.

Rob
Ah, now it seems that the workgroup is not accessible from the laptop. It says "The network name cannot be found"
