Cleaning Turbo Internals?

veilsideTT

Recommended Posts

I have my turbos seperated at the moment and they have quite a bit of an oil residue inside the blade areas. This is due to me having oil blowing by the pistons and managing to work its way into the turbos.

So, i need some advice on cleaning them out.

What methods has anyone used or would suggest to do this?

Cheers

Scott

The oil will (hopefully...) just be in the compressor side of the turbos, and that will never get hot enough to burn oil off. If oil gets into the turbine side it will be burnt off, or depoited as carbon inside, and short of a full strip and bead blast nothing will shift it short of caustic soda, and that'll bugger other stuff up, like the alloy compressor housing, seals, blah blah.
