web/e-mail hosting recommendations

Thorin

Recommended Posts

My hosting is up for renewal in a couple of months and I'm after alternative recommendations. I'm currently using a unix hosting plan from http://www.lcn.biz/web-hosting.asp but for the amount of storage space provided it aint that cheap, and I could do with more. They have been very reliable and have excellent customer service.

I need multiple e-mail aliases, forwarding options etc. and ideally PHP/MySQL and access to web logs too but not essential I suppose.

Still looking into possibilities here, anyone have any negative comments against fasthosts or easyspace?

I use fast hosts, but mainly only for the server (I manage) and Bandwith, I have heard their managing is quite naff, and you have to do your own backups :(

123-reg is a no (no php and not much space), I don't like vodahost's website and I'd prefer uk based, internic look ok.

Wkd, I see your web site is under construction, does your data centre look anything like this?

Thorin If you are going to make jokes about the whole thing when my input was just a vaild as the next guys. And if you must know we use a highly sophisticated NOC in Nottingham and in Teleford and also we use Telehouse in London.

The Website is under consturction as I hav'nt had the chance to make it pretty yet. The website will be uploaded over the weekend once I have decided on the final Layout.

Sorry, the comment was a bit tongue in cheek, I should have added a few smilies ;)

I'll check out your website once it's up and running, but I may have decided on somewhere now. Not for a couple of months though.

  • 1 month later...

Site much better wkd, good luck with it. :)

I however decided to go with another hosting company, which may turn out for the worst but I'll wait and see. Looks like control of the domain has now been transfered over so I guess I'll see once I get home whether my e-mail etc. is still working ok.
