RedM
I think that Skys approved value service is just a reason to charge higher premiums, trading on our fears of not being able to replace our cars should something bad happen. If they were comparably matched with other insurers AND included the approved value then I think we'd all be with them.
RedM
I've spoken to be today after getting a quote of £667 from them online. Two things put me off. 1. In the event of a total loss they pay the book price only regardless of how much your car cost. 2. Won't touch any modifications at all. I asked for confirmation and the guy went away to ask. Confirmed that they wouldn't even entertain an aftermarket exhaust. So, Sky have come down a little bit and it looks like I'll be renewing with them. how_supra
Interesting, so Bell really aren't that good then by the sounds of it? So Sky get the business by default. I guess Sky aren't that bad to be honest, I personally was expecting them to be good first time round.
RedM
I see Sky and their agreed value policy as being a safety net. Should the Supe ever be a write-off it's good to know that they'll pay the agreed amount rather than the book price. Jae told me that the decision on the value of the car is based not on the book or other Supras on Auto-Trader etc. but on the prices and values we, as enthusiasts, pay/are prepared to pay. That, I think, is a good thing. I'm also happy that I can do a fair bit to the car without it upping my premium. If only I could afford to do so. martin_a
I insured my FTO this year with Sky and after a month i got in touch about the Supra. They £551 for the year so £60 more than the FTO. Thing is i expect i'll have to move next year when they try to jack the price up. A-Plan did it, i moved to Adrian Flux, they did it and i moved to Sky. If anyone wants repeat business off me they had best not try to bump up my premium when i've had another year of incident free motoring. Rip off. m.
