Speedo face

As I am getting my Soop delimited, I guess I kinda need a new speedo face - one that goes up higher than 112mph!!! Has anyone got a standard looking one knocking about anywhere? I'm not sure whether you have to change the whole thing or not as I'm new to the whole 'delimiting' thing. Can someone please advise this numbnuts on what he has to do?

No, you'd need a full speedo as the insides would be different I think. Not 100% on that though.

You see that's what I assumed because surely the dial will be reading wrong if I just replace the face? I need some guidance with this one. Where are you techy folks at?

can someone tell me, is it simply a case of replacing the existing face with this? And how simple is it to fit?
That's the one you need when you fit a DSC. You can use your existing 110mph speedo face when you delimit the car, you just won't know how fast you're going when over 110mph. That eBay speedo face is for cars with a DSC fitted.

Hmmm I see, could do with knowing how fast I am going, not that there will ever be occasions on public roads that I'll be doing those kind of speeds anyway  but round a track you never know. So I'd need to get a DSC fitted? What sort of cost are we talking Jake? And fitting ease? Numbnuts proof? Thanks mate

Yeah, they're easy John. It's just a question of joining four wires. Prices vary from like £30 on eBay to about £100 for the very good YellR or Thor ones.

Fitting a speedo face is easy too, apart from refitting the needle which can be a pita. Best way is to lift the needle over its resting pin and noting where it stops naturally, before you remove the needle. Then you know where to position it when you refit the little bugger.

You can get a DSC from Thor

I'm a tad confused actually now, after looking at that link - that is for a speed converter and a top speed delimiter - my speedo already reads in mph, and I have bought the top speed delimiter, I'm not sure why I would need this part too. I'm confused

Your speedo is an unconverted KPH one at the moment. It just has a 110mph cover on it. (180kph = 112mph)

Think about where the needle is now when you're doing 110mph, that's where the needle will be at 180mph after you fit a speedo converter.

You don't HAVE to fit a speedo converter (DSC) to go faster than 112mph but if you don't the needle will be almost back round to 0mph when you're doing 140.

Do you see what I mean?

Ahhhhhh, now I get it, so mine hasn't been converted at all, I see now. That makes sense. Now the DSC on the Thor website seems to be incorporated with the top speed delimiter into one unit, where would I find one separate? I had a scan on Ebay couldn't see any. Not sure where else to try.

Somebody PM'd this to me by mistake :

Hi

Sorry can,t post on forum because i need to join yet.

if you take ur mph face off under that will be the old face in kilometres.

Than when you put the chip on it will delimit ur car,get little black tape and put it on the k of kmh and there you have it it will show miles going up to 180.

I presume he meant to send it to you, John.

ps

I'm not sure what he's saying about the original 180kph speed face being underneath the 100mph is necessarily right though.

*IF* the original face (180kmh) is behind the 110mph one then you can use that when you fit a DSC. The markings for the increments of each 10kph are in exactly the same places as on a mph one so it's just as accurate/inaccurate as a UK one.

If you have a TSD already then you just need a DSC, or you could buy a combined one for a bit more and sell your TSD - might save you a few quid in the long run, if you can be arsed.
