Kopite
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORs-8GT6SMU Bit gory in places in case people aren't expecting it, some uncut pictures of bodies etc but just a reminder of the committment racers make

Jake
Fuck. I'd forgotten how horrible that was. Purley trying to turn the car over on his own and then getting a fire extinguisher off those useless fucking marshalls and trying to save Roger on his own. Whitesupraboy2
very well made video and id never seen dave purely before, but those marshalls were useless. reminds me of the useless marshalls in japan who left a guy in a burning ferrari for around 3mins then pulled him out and left him walking round blind

imi
Really Sad Video ....just goes to show what a dangerous sport motorracing really is, and the leaps and bounds it have come through in regards to safety.
merckx
That was horrific, I remember watching the qualifying when Roland Ratzenberger had that accident. It's hard to imagine it happening again.
RICHARDA
As a kid I remember seeing Dave Purley crash his stunt plane into the sea and die infront of us on Bognor beach. I was in a little inflatable at the time.
Rob
Having just watched the Canadian GP it amazing how much room those cockpits had in the 90, when you see Senna and Ratzenburger with their heads lolling about. I'm glad I hadn't seen that vid before I did an Audi trackday at Brands. They strap you in tight to the single seaters, briefly point to the fire extinguisher button and send you on your way. I remember thinking "there's no way I'm getting out of this car in a hurry if it goes over"

jim_supra
very sad vid, it's good that there has not been a death in F1 in 12 years now though. I remeber reading something about the Roger Williamson crash a while ago, and I could not beleive that once the fire had been extinguished and they righted the car, they covered it with a tarpaulin (with Williamsons body still inside) and continued with the race! Soonto_HAS_soop
A sad reminder of how unsafe the sport was back in those days. Although if they did a rallying version, it would include some very recent incidents. The marshall running across the road was horrific. jamesmark
Very Tragic indeed. Some of the best talent taken out doing something that lived and breathed for. I truly believe that they would not have wanted to go out in any other way. I echo the display by the marshalls was shocking, even in modern day races the marshalls leave a lot to be desired. jamesmark
And half of england cry because of Roonys foot! I freely admit that I shed a tear when Senna was pronounced dead, he was one of the best drivers ever if not the best. If Senna's life was not so tragicly taken I truly believe that Schumi would not have had so many world titles under his belt the man like most of the greats was a genius behind the wheel.
