Poor lad, about the same age as one of my sons. I really feel for him and his family. My thoughts are with them, and I wish them all the best possible out come.

Huge respect for the young lad how helped him at the scene, probably saved his life.

Anyone know how the driver is doing?

Jesus, I read this thread the other day and thought there'd just been an accident with someone injured, didn't realise it was this bad!

Hope you pull through Karl, even though I don't know you, thoughts are with you and your family.

steve is he awake?did ya get to see him?

Yeah we went in, and said a few words to him. He's not conscious. Doubt he will be for a while yet. His old man is a great fella. He took us outside and explained the lot and what we should expect. He said to expect if he does make it out, he'll still be in intensive care for months but even then we'll not see the Karl we knew. He is very severely brain damaged. He's away for an op today

dont know this lad but i hope he pulls through sounds like a nice kid. i was told at work yesterday that another drivers daughter had been killed friday night somewhere in the durham area 16 years old she was a passenger too. 2 years ago my mate was killed in a smash a 20 year old serving soldier last time i seen him was on the news giving aid to the iraqi public my cousin and 2 other mates were in my cousin was given 24hrs to live looked like elephant man but pulled out he's still having ops and cant walk properly the other two were found 20 yards next to a river badly hurt luckily thrown out the rear window away from damage. this thread should make you think how you drive especially younger lads am not criticising cos we'v all been there and i was the very first genuine breed of half wit but you wisen up as you get on.your not as good as you think you are be carefull.

From his posts, Karl is obviously car / Supra mad...keen as mustard, and comes across as a very friendly likeable guy. Hes the same age as my son, and I kind of see him as a forum apprentice - obviously enthusiastic about whatever car he had at the time and all things Supra too. Its such a shame that he is going through this through no fault of his own. Our thoughts are with him and his family for now and the long recovery road ahead. All the very best wishes,

Ewen and Jane

Thinking about the guy who cut Karl's seatbelt (hero) I don't have anything on my person or in the car capable of doing that.

I know carrying knives is a dodgy thing to do, but I can't help thinking it was a blessing in this case. (assuming the guy was carrying a knife, rather then having one of those hammer/cutter things in his car)

Read the first couple of posts of this thread the other day and thought, it would be another one you hear about who's not on this board. Finally read all the posts today and it's a bit of a shock, I remember Karl's posts when he first joined, seemed like a nice kid and keen on jap cars. I hope he pulls through ok, fingers crossed.
