kieren1234
omg, i have only just seen and read through this thread, certainly did put a lump in my through and i wish i knew what the outcome was before reading it as it looked like he was making a recovery. Such a shame and my deepest condlances go to the family and friends. Massive appraisals for the support of Geordiesteve and everyone that went to the tribute cruise. Well done everyone. GeordieSteve
That sets a very worrying precedent imo. If you knew the background it wouldn't be so worrying (I'll explain as soon as he settles down in jail). Support was great from the forum. There was another cruise a few weeks back but sadly I was in Scotland, strangly there to see someone who just got out of jail for an accident involving a small child who died in a car accident

I'll take your word for it but imo making an issue of the TC by the prosocution doesn't sit easy with me.
Supragal
Personally I don't like it either. Dicking about = bad thing. Turning TC off, actually better in some situations!!!
Kopite
Turning TC off, actually better in some situations!!! As Lust said, especially if it's the stock TC!

Homer
IIRC it was a pre-facelift NA, where traction control was an option. I think that proves that it cannot be inherently dangerous to drive with the TC off as the car was designed to be driven without it. Not sure how that would stand up in a court of law, but I'm sure there's more to the verdict than just that one point the news report has picked up on. Jake
??All the multiple !s and ?s made your post look like you were very excited/angry with someone but I couldn't figure out who.
mr keef
Jake all im saying mate is when i read "Prosecutors say the 23- year-old, of Brixham Avenue, Gateshead, had turned off the traction control on his 175mph car before the accident" then basically if it was a member of my family in that car i would be asking myself why the hell did he do that...why did he switch of something that is seen as a saftey feature..Not shouting or angry mate just i can totally understand why something like this would crop up. Yes but they say he was showing off...that and switching the TC off would be a very silly thing to do if your car was equiped with it..from there point of view. GeordieSteve
He was drifting... that's why TC was off. He was also doing VERY high speeds at the time. Off a very large round about where you have to op lock harsh when exiting

GeordieSteve
It's an industrial estate with lots of cameras and a security office right beside the tree. I'm a friend of the family so I've heard what was shown in court

Class One
They can't with it being in court mate. Once he's sentenced I'll go into more detail In that case, as it is still in court I'll lock this for now to avoid any further discussion and you can PM your chosen mode to have it opened once the case is finalised. No i'd say that was par for the course. There was no intent, and that does count for a lot. He was stupid and made some very poor choices and Karl unfortunately died. It's all just very sad - let him do his time...
GeordieSteve
Just waiting on the chronicle to post up more details. He would have got off with a warning if he had of kept to his plea of guilty. Instead he changed that to not guilty and just kept saying "no comment". This won him 4 year and caused the family heart ache.
