China Man
Hi, The other day I was driving along at night just like anyother night out and at the traffice light the car stall on me, kinda rough idle for a few second then engine stalled. Never happened b4. Now and then the car idle with a tiny vibration which I am not sure if I am paranoid or what...but never stall again. I sense the fuel economy is going down as well, seems like I need to pump petrol mor frequent......I didn't change anything in the car recently except new set of plugs 4-5 months ago and oil change at phenoix a few weeks ago. What do I need to check?? China

andrew7
Look at your plugs. That ususally tell you loads. While you have the plugs out, check coil packs for cracking on the plug cap. Also check you plastic LT connectors to the tops of the coil packs... Plus consider - Air Filter and Fuel filter -
supra sam
Your Not the only 1 I have had that problem 2, only happens now and again the idle just seems to drop and almost cut out then seems to sort itself out after a while. I have changed the plugs and air filter so i rekon it could be the o2 sensor or fuel filter?
vvteye
Me too, Got back from a fortnight hols a couple of weeks ago and the car was rough... a bit like when I had no option but to put ordainary 4 star in but worse. Sometimes it feels like it isn't firing on all cylinders then sometimes it's ok. Rather unpredicatble on an overtaking manouvre I've booked in with Martin aka lucifer to get some diags done as I don't really have the ability to go through the whole arena of checks. No help I know but plenty of empathy!
China Man
http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/6821/plugold5zy.th.jpg http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/809/o2lemon3oi.th.jpg http://img67.imageshack.us/img67/1343/02sensorold9um.th.jpg I tried the lemon trick today as I won't be able to get a new o2 sensor straight away. I also checked all the spark plugs for problem but all look healthy. I think my car is running rich and may be that is normal. there is a thick layer of black soot inside the nur spec... I managed to break the flimsy plastic clips where the lead connect to the sparkplugs.... can't explain what it is called but I found a faq on how to make it a better connection by putting a small screw driver in the back of the metal clip. TLicense
Woah woah woah... Engine diagnostics step 1 = check for codes. If you're not sure how do a search on codes on here, I'm sure it'll fire up all you need to know! Let us know which (if any) of them flash up. Best of luck! TLicense
Just the light in the instrument panel mate. The "check engine light"
China Man
ok I cracked it, learn something new today I have the speed hut dial installed and after careful inspection I saw a dim blinking in the dial. Yes, it is covered up, the blink is continous so I guess there is no stored error code. Stupid me trying ages in and out of the car do try get the pin and connection ...
