Matt H
Think i need to get a new FCD. Whats the best one out there? do Thor make their own? TA
Stonkin
Thor do make one mate. I've got an HKS, but that came with the car. When i was last at Phoneix, Mark said he preferred the HKS one to the Thor but didnt really give a reason why. I believe most go for the Thor
Ben-san
The Thor/TRL VFCC will be what you're after Matt. I hear bad things about the HKS FCD from the american forum, though it doesn't say why. Does anyone know? Another options would be a Greddy BCC.

Matt H
I think i know!! Ive got a HKS one on at the moment, think its playing up. Ive had a problem since i got the car and £680 of inspection work from Chris Wilson says its not mechanical. So i reckon its the FCD, Im going to post a video up in the next few days about this displaying my speedo and rev counter. See if anyone can tell whats going on!! supRo
Thor ones still retain fuel cut and you can set it to your desired level
Stonkin
Now i'm worried about mine, what problems are you having Matt?
Steviekid
I think the main two problems with it are that the fuel cut is completely eliminated rather than raised as supRo said, and that the way it tricks the car stops the second turbo pre-spooling properly. I can't find the article about this at the moment though!
supRo
Thor ones still retain fuel cut and you can set it to your desired level e.g. I run upto 1.2/1.25 bar and my fuel cut is set for 1.4 just incase of a major spike

Ben-san
Just read that article. Interesting theory there. Perhaps these ill effects tend to show up more on autos where those variables are more likely to be designed to work within certain margins? Stonkin
Found the link: http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/bcc/why_bcc/Why_the_GReddy_BCC.htm Thanks mate, just read that. I think i may have found what could be causing an issue with my car that really bugs me! It mentions quite a few times in that doc that the FCD plays a part in controlling idle speed, and that the HKS device has been known to cause erratic idling. Mine is an auto and the idle speed normally sits around 200 rpm! normally at the first small line just above the first big line. Its so agravating as you can pull up to a junction and it can make the steering wheel vibrate a bit, it never feels like its going to cut out but i've never thought it was right. I've mentioned it to people and asked if i should clean the idle control valve or something, to which they said probably not Could my HKS unit really be causing this? If so, how much is the Thor unit and where is the best place to get one please?
