Whitesupraboy2
mine is 700 - 800 rpm but does the annual cold start of 2,000 rpm .... u know why it this high dude?? is it something about the engine requiring it too idle so high??
Suprash
John it idles ok, around the 700-800rmp, its just the cold start, so are you saying that this has always idle'd at this speed from factory......... It really does sound excessive mate..........
Rob
Stop worrying!!! It's fine, chill Winston. Yes, you have to use the brake to stop the car running away, it's the same technique you use when you approach a sharp bend at speed. 2000rpm is a lot less than 7500rpm, which I'm sure you hit every day. When it's summer and really hot, don't you dare come on here and complain that the car feels slow and sluggish:p :p
Scooter
Mine does it and so did my old one. I agree it does sound high and a little harsh sometimes and i'm pretty certain that my TT didn't idle so high on start up, but maybe there's a techinical reason for that
Suprash
Right, Im running a poll to find out if its a TT vs NA thing..... Just for Terry of course........
osso
2000rpm does sound alot, I would have expected it to idle around 1250 ~ 1500 rpm. It could be that the ICV malfunctioning (Idle Control Valve) which either needs cleaning or replacing. If i remember rightly, it's purpose is to allow more air past the throttle valve when the engine is cold, either way I doubt there's any harm in idling at 2000 rpm. lust2luv
My NA idles at almost 2k when cold too (tis decatted if that makes a difference?) Seeing as everybody's experience seems to be the same, I wouldn't worry, Toyota must have had a reason.
