Adjusting the choke on a NA ???

Yes, you have to use the brake to stop the car running away, it's the same technique you use when you approach a sharp bend at speed.

 

2000rpm is a lot less than 7500rpm, which I'm sure you hit every day.

 

When it's summer and really hot, don't you dare come on here and complain that the car feels slow and sluggish:p :p :p

2000rpm does sound alot, I would have expected it to idle around 1250 ~ 1500 rpm. It could be that the ICV malfunctioning (Idle Control Valve) which either needs cleaning or replacing.

 

If i remember rightly, it's purpose is to allow more air past the throttle valve when the engine is cold, either way I doubt there's any harm in idling at 2000 rpm.
