my bad 255/35/18 on the front dont know were i got 225 from:rolleyes:

well thats a bit better to me it only makes the rear wheels 2% bigger than front

in that case, the 255s may be a little too wide for the front imo but there are a few people running that size so you should be okay with it.

255 on the front??? Unless you pushing serious BHP then the drag on that car must be awful

its always had 255 on the front so dont know any diffrent but seems to drive ok to me. i would change them but there only 5-6months old so they are like new still but when the wear out i will try some thinner ones.

what should i put on the rear 275 ok? as that is whats on now

Well stock is 255, I run 265 but i did want 275/285 for that extra grip, when you are ready i would come down to 235 on the front. why dont you till you need them put the 255 on the rear just now and then buy 235 for the fronts? depends on the wear on the 255's

Is it not always the case of bigger is better.

Just an idea but if you run a larger width tyre you are increasing drag which has already been mentioned but you are also spreading the weight of the car over a larger area.

Its like wearing snow shoes and trainers, by spreading the weight you are applying less pressure, i think this is why rally cars use very small tyre widths, F1 cars have massive tyres but also extreme downforce pushing them into the ground.

I noticed the rear became more unpredictable when i increased the tyre to 275 from stock 255, I have always had the front on 235, all on stock 17" wheels.
