absz
Right i for some unknown reason had a few minutes spare in my busy life and decided to remove the traction butterfly in the throttle body. i removed the butterfly and spindle from the body, blocked of the holes were the spindle was feed through and kept the tps sensor and motor still attached to the throttle body and all connected. but my problem is now i have the slip diff light flashing and harsh gear changes on the auto box is there any thing i can do without having to fit the butterfly back in. LeeT
its the butterfly that softened the gear changes, hence why its not recommended to remove this on the stock autobox
Lucifer
It needs to sense resistance. But Lee is right, put it back in or youll be buying a new box.
LeeT
if you just wanted to stop the flashing light then just unplug the trac ECU as its not doing anything now anyway. Some people on here run the autobox without the butterfly and have done for a few years but the risk is down to you
paul mac
everything i've read about this mod means harsh changes and it hammers the s**t out of the box, a good condition auto box should not need this mod if yours is slow changing up under load it means its getting tired you'll only accelerate its demise

Pig
I have run my auto box like this for a while. I have felt the life of the box de-crease. i put the fust back in the other day and its much nicer. i would put it all back together bud...sorry
colsoop
Did you manage to remove the butterfly without having to drill the screws out ?
absz
Did you manage to remove the butterfly without having to drill the screws out ? nope drilled them out:( i was hoping as the sensor is on a return spring and i've left it all in place connected up it should't have pulled a fault. i guess i was wrong. b_have
I have run mine with the trac fuse out for years, love the harsh upshift, furthermore have upped the line pressure in the box which makes the tyres chirp on each shift. Have had a spare box on standby to drop in when I kill it, but it keeps going. Anyone want a low milage autobox cheap? (that will jinx it!) absz
i guess i'll leave it as it is and see how i get on. B'HAVE does the line pressure mod make alot of differance i.e more responsive/quicker
