Engine dead? Turbo dead? What's wrong ?

Sounds like No1 cylinder has detted. I'd take the head off for a look at the piston and chamber. Decie then if there is any bore damage AT ALL. if there is, or they don't size up perfectly OK witha Mercer (bore) gauge) it will be cheaper to source a known good used engine. If ther IS det damage you MUST address the mapping or find an alternative cause, otherwise it WILL happen again. To be honest, if there is no bore damege you will have been very lucky indeed. Unless you can do the majority of the work yourself a used GOOD engine will always be the chapest way out

Hey Guys...

If anybody hears about a used engine... Please let me know. It's hard for me to call with GB because on the phone my english isn't so good. Maybe someone heard something and can help me a little.

Thank you all for you help and your hints.

Cheers

Hey guys.

NEWS NEWS NEWS !!

I have removed the whole engine last weekend and dissambled the engine last days and found very interesting things.

There are a lot of woofs in the 2. and 6. piston btw into the head also. Now it is defenitly that something came into the engine and damaged it and this part also get into the turboblades.

BUT..... I found nothing (really nothing) on the engine thats damaged like plugs or anything from the head. Everything is fine. I think that's an old damage and something goes wrong by previous owner and the turbo keep up 3000miles and now it was enough.

What do you guys think about this pictures. (AGAIN: No parts are damaged into the engine that could get the pistons)

To the problem with the first cylinder compression. On the first cylinder are no woofs at all but the piston have a lot of space into the hole. Here a small video. (Sorry for geman speaking but this is for the german MKIV Forum but you don't need to understand. You see the Problem)

Click here to watch 1. piston

I don't know if it is possible only to renew the piston rings, because if I need to repair the bore wash I need oversized pistons and that's a lot of money again.

What do you guys think about all ?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Chris,

thanks for your helpfully words.

I think your are in right. Have removed in the last 4 hours the oilpan and found some litte shrapnal into it. Make a picture of it. I don't no, if this pieces are from rings. Could be something other, but I found there a much more horrible thing. There was a shim into under the "Big Oilpan" (Sorry I don't know the word) and I can't believe how get it in or from which part could it be.

I take a picture tomorrow. Maybe someone knows it. Looks like very "special".

Hope I don't need oversized pistons and re ring is enough.

Cheers

Peter

The engine is original and never opend before. Only thing was the transformation to Single and this did Paul Whiffin. I think he has enough knowledge to fit Singleturbos but maybe a little mistake. I don't know.

Don't like to say anybody made a mistake but fact is, there is a shim into the engine and I don't know if it is from the engine or not.

And what are these shrapnel ??
