:(

hes 11 and I dont think hes going to make it.

I am so down I hate it that he cant talk to me and that he may be suffering. He has to go to the vet on Monday for tests,

Has signs of lymphatic cancer in that 1 of j his lglands is really swollen under his throat, although he has had some kind of infection for the last 10 days. No sign of bacteria in his samples? could be a virus I guess; hes just lying panting all day and wont settle.

Im so sad -sorry for posting

Hi Rich, sorry to hear this mate:(

Been there myself a few months ago and it's heartbreaking being so powerless to do anything for them.

All you can do is make him as comfortable as possible and try to have someone with him all the time. Hopefully he'll come through this mate, stay strong for both of you.

They mean so much to us and give us so much love and loyalty, the reason why we find it hard to cope at these times.

Best wishes and hope he pulls through OK.

Fp1, my dog used to respond well to Yoghurt when he was feeling poorly (Use prper full-fat bio natural flavour - "Onken" is good).

Also add some honey if you have it and he is not eating properly as it is one of the best energy foods.

Keep him cool (fan) and plenty of water available right next to him..

Best of luck mate.....

So Sorry to hear your news Rich.

I've been through it myself , so know how you feel.I lost both of my dogs to cancer within a year of each other. To say I was gutted would be an understatement.

Fingers crossed for Monday m8.

All the Best.

Sorry to hear this. As you said in your first post, a swollen lymph node in an older dog usually means either lymphoma or an infection somewhere in the area that that the gland drains (often a tooth root abscess or similar). I presume your vets have done a biopsy or needle aspirate, hope the results are good.

The swollen gland under his throat (if lymphoma) won't be painful for him btw, and causes problems purely by compressing the windpipe/oesophagus etc.
