HELP! auto gear nob

just got a new oem gear shift and cant work out how to get the o/d button off without cutting the two wires and the selector button is proving hard to get out dont wanna break anything. done a search but not much help .anyone done one before??????

there is a way as i did mine...if you follow the wires down near the gearbox tunnel? there is a clip there...then you just unclip it and pull it through.

yeah saw that clip but didnt think it would go through the nob and couldnt get my hand in there to pull it out

I snipped them at the top of the wires, (nearerst to the button) presumed there would be less movement at that end to help not cause any stress on the joins, i used those cheapy clips which worked perfectly but ended up soldering them just to be a fussy git!

Always think "how was this built?" (because it was) and the solution usually follows.

work out how it was put together easy take it apart another matter:rolleyes: anyway i snipped the wires and rejoined em job done looks nice now
