Gerry
Four of us (Supes) are off for a weeks tour of Scotland tomorrow (well if you call a 4.30am start "tomorrow") We are re-creating MrT's famous McTour 2005. The idea is to spend a week haggis spotting (in the car) view looking (in the car) and photo taking (in the car) we may also be doing some driving... I'm reliably told that the roads are long and twisty and free from nasties takings pics of you if you do 5 MPH over the limit (which we obviously won't do) ! Apparently the sun always shines, the sheep look both ways before crossing the road and everywhere you stop the locals come flocking with offers of whisky, fine wine, hearty food and the offer of thier daughters to keep you warm at night. I hope I've not been mislead Soo said she's also looking forward to some sporan tickling (think that's some kind of Scotish fishing) Will take lots of pics (not of the fishing obviously)... Have a good week "at work" guys (and gals). G PS. anybody know if you can get a second mortgage for a tanker load of Optimax ?

paul mac
i did 1000 miles up camping in jockland last year mosty up the west side Mull, Skye, some absolutly crackin roads, one of my memorys was hiting 140 coming off a hill with the road stetching out in front for miles and looking over at the daughter who was sat contentedly reading Harry Potter !, shhhhhhh dont tell the wife:D, on the flip side there were quite a lot of single track roads where 20 mph was fast, have fun and enjoy the scenery
Gerry
Back this afternoon... Did just over 1,600 miles in the week... The roads were just brilliant, we did two that were like five mile roller coasters (both twice) and loads that were just long winding and fast. Thanks to "White Leader" for organising the trip, the steam train day, the meals - brilliant... Many thanks to Eva for the kilts (pics to follow) !!! Will try to post the best few pics (from the 300 plus we took) soon. Brilliant scenery, brilliant roads, brillaint company... brilliant holiday.... Gerry & Soo PS.. hope you all got home safely, have had another go at "Geds Bar" tonight !

He was in a red MR2 but he did say that it was an awesome sight seeing the 4 of you together, not something you see very often in sheep country:D

Mr T
am from the borders originally but now living in the Highlands in Inverness and have to say the roads up here are just fantastic and the best i've ever driven on for a challenging drive. Got back on Saturday eve' after a brilliant time driving around on some of Scotland's best roads, a total of 1800 miles door to door in 7 days :D Every drop of the £450 of Optimax it took' was well worth it! The trip was made most enjoyable because of the fine collection of people who accompanied us on our journey. Big thanks goes out to Neil & Eva, Gerry & Sue, & Jon, and the cars of course:) The best road we found was the B9007 in Inverness, which as Jon said, we drove 3 times:) Attached is a couple of pic's from the blast across the moors.
