Guest CupraA
The car in the thread below looks pretty good. Really wanted it but insurance is gonna be too big an issue! Only 35000 miles apparently: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=66792
Jake
Why would insurance be a problem for that one? It's fairly stock isn't it? Did the seller ever say how much he's looking for?
Guest CupraA
Never managed to find out how much he's wanting, yet. As you say its fairly stock (evc5 is fitted runs 1.3-1.4 boost, greddy intercooler, hks blow off valve, alu pipes all round blitz induction) but my main problem is a M16 postcode. Sky arent insuring there currently, havent checked adrian flux yet but have never had a good quote from them in the past. Every other insurer I've tried for various supra's have all had 'issues' with boost controllers! Do you know anywhere else worth a try? Lookin like if its possible, so much will go on insurance I'll have to get a cheaper car tho! (sorry for hijack!) Cheers, aaron
Jake
Why not get a TT and take the Boost Controller off it? (if fitted) You can easily run 1.2 bar on a J-spec just by decatting. 1.3bar or more is too much for the stock j-spec turbos anyway.

Guest CupraA
Cheers Jake! Why didnt i think of taking them off? Does just having a decat put you at risk of developing too much boost tho??? Am new to all this and somewhat confused. Thanks for your advice!
Jake
It would do but you can fit a restrctor ring in an exhaust joint to stop the boost going too high. Have a butcher's in the FAQ section mate, it's all there.
