jamesmark
Just out of intrest I had a debate at my work today about who people would support if there nation was not in the World cup. As I am only Scottish person in my team you can imagine the banter can be good. We have all heard of the divide between our nations when it comes to sport, but would you support another nation if your team was not in the world cup. So if England never reached the world cup would you support Scotland or Wales or N Ireland? I for one hope England will do well, but my co workers think that there neighbouring nations will not support England but England would support them. Before we get all the comments on how crap the Welsh and Scottish team are anyway, we already know that! But am interested to see what the view is and this applies to all sports. Bill Prawn
Wales, Northern Ireland and even Ireland yes. Scotland never:p
Charlotte
I would support Rep of Ireland as i did in the 94 World Cup.
chilli
yes for sure, I'd support anyone from britain so long as they wern't rivals for england (i.e. england are out)
Elliot
I have no interest in what happened between the different tribes that inhabited this land hundreds of years ago, but it seems a lot of people do, like they were personally involved or something and wish to express it through supporting other teams. If a neighbouring country was playing, I'd be neutral, I don't care who wins. If it wasn't the constant slagging off of England and their success (relative to the other nations), I might just show some interest in how they perform against other teams....but I just associate their teams with the same bitter haters who follow the pack and would support any nation England were up against. Ewen
I'd like to vote, but cant...you havent got a Northumbrian option
Jake
Same as Charlotte; When England didn't qualify for the World Cup in USA 94 we all supported Ireland. But then we're not all bitter jealous twats like the scots that don't support their neighbours. I'd honestly love it if Scotland made it to the world cup (guaranteed three points for England)
stupra
I'm not big into footie, (apart from the world an european cups) an i'd support any of the other UK sides, unless they're playing England.

I'd honestly love it if Scotland made it to the world cup (guaranteed three points for England) Bit of a harsh comment about the Scots, where did you dig that fact up from? Jealous what have the Scots got to be jealous about? the only thing that England is better than us is sport. 70% of the worlds greatest inventions/achievements were made by us Scots. We have a proven higher standard of education but we have a rubbish football team, WOW big deal. It's actually pityful that a nation rely's on there sporting achievements so much. The only so called twats there is are the people that slag off other nations, whether they be towards the Scots, Asian people, Irish, those are the people that give their own nation a bad name. jamesmark
By saying...'you're good at this, but we're far better at this...' Only pointing out, its just I did not like the comment that Jake made, end off. It's not just about the Scots but a good part so not going to lie but comments like that when we have British people signaling out a whole nation as twats no wonder the UK can get a bad name. Or am I just pointing something out that people must find acceptable.

garetheves
I would, as long as England werent in it. Like has been stated before, in the 94 World Cup i was cheering for Ireland. If England were in the competition then i wouldnt cos i wouldnt want them to get any further than England.
