Big Dave
Traveling back from a show on saturday I stopped at traffic lights and when I went to pull away the car was dead, music etc all still playing but no engine, tried re-starting and just kept turning over, So obviously I know its not the battery, alternator etc, luckly I was near hame so got some mates together and pushed her home, First thought was Fuel pump but fuel is getting through to the engine without any problems, checked the earth and it is also fine, I then had the car recovered to the garge which does all of my work, by chance they had another TT in so they switched ECUs over and my ECU is fine although when fitted to my car doesnt appear to be. We have done all the obvious fuse checks etc but nothing has turned up. This is the first problem in nearly 3 years of owning the car. I know the car is covered in sensors etc, are there any sensors that are likly to be guilty, There have been no modifications to the car in recent months + it has been driving really well recently, There have been no pools of oil etc either. Any ideas David
LeeT
when you say you've done all the obvious,i take it you checked for a spark? if not it could be ignitor pack.
TLicense
Are you getting compression?
Kranz
Its not something silly like the impact sensor ignition cut off is it?
TLicense
As long as you're getting a spark, fuel, compression and air it'll run to some degree. You can be pretty sure it'll be getting the air bit. The compression is easy. As long as the cam belt is turning the cam's you will get some kind of compression on at least 1 of the cylinders. The spark bit if very easy to check with removing one of the coil packs, putting a plug in it, and seeing if it sparks against one of the engine hooks. The fuel bit is a bit tricker, but see if you can hear the injectors clicking, and feel the fuel line pressure increase. If you've got all of those and it's still not running or at least trying to run, then something is VERY wrong. Hope that helps.

If the ECU can't determine where each piston is it won't know when to squirt the fuel in. As a default it stops the engine from running. Have you checked for fault codes??
