Terry Gilham
Hoping someone can help me here as been looking for ages and can not find the anwser I'm looking for. I need new brakes (discs and Pads) on my Jap Spec TT but want to see what options have. The car is standard with no plans to change that except RLTC and maybe De - catt. I don't want to go for the Uk brakes, so are there any other options other than standard Jap ones and if anyone knows of any reviews that have been done on this. Soonto_HAS_soop
Search for some of Chris Wilsons threads as he sells some good pads, failing that look at the traders section in this forum, they all have good stuff for sale. Most say that the J Spec brakes are improved considerably with a disc, pad, hose and fluid change. A search should bring a lot of info up for you. Ben.. CJ
Could I ask why you are not interested in the UK brakes?

ChrisR
Hello Terry, Im in the same boat as you, i need to look at my braking system soon as my pads and discs are nearly shot. I have had my supe now for nearly two years and when i first got it i had Chris Wilsons Race Pads fitted. These made a great difference over stock pads and were approx £100 more in cost. The only down side to these were they screached and screamed at every opourtunity. They also produce huge amounts of brake dust. Both of these aspects did my head in the noise especially. In the next few months i will be getting all four discs replaced with stock ones, uprated brake lines and this time i will go with Chris Wilsons Fast Road Pads which do not squeal. Hope that helps Regards Chris
ChrisR
Forgot to say i probably would have had UK brakes if my wheels had fit over the calipers however the cost of the UK fronts and rears (approx £1300) and to change wheels as well i could not justify the expense. My alloys were fitted new by the dealer who sold me the car so that side of things was out of my hands.
Terry Gilham
It was due to the expense on the Uk brakes why I was not going to go for them, but I already have new 19 " Mille Evo wheels but I do not know if the Uk brakes will fit with these. I did not know if you could try somebody like Tarox, or Ebc.

Paul Whiffin
Hi Terry, go with the Porterfields, I've tested them on all sorts of cars and they are very good indeedy. Got all types in stock here at the best prices around.... Cheers
Matt Harwood
Mini Maidstone meet sounds good! Paul, I've driven a car with the Porterfields fitted to J-spec brakes, and when they're warmed up, they're almost as good as UK brakes on stock pads. Is there as much difference putting Porterfields on a UK set-up?
Paul Whiffin
Definately yes, the std pads dont really give much in the way of bite if you ask me. Good idea to fit Goodridge braided brake lines and some decent fluid at the same time if you can as well. Cheers
