Going to buy a supra mid april time

Im looking for a UK TT manual and im wanting to spend about £9-10000. am i going to be able to find one decent for this kind of money or do i need to keep saving?

I want one which is totally standard so i can start my own modifications.

thanks for any advise to get me on track

It's a fickle market, UK manuals come up at very low prices when a dealer doesn't appreciate their rarity but on the whole they attract a premium, if one does come up you'll have to be prepared to travel that day and to put a deposit on it over the phone - cheap ones sell v.quickly.

I'm near Leeds myself and struggled to find anything locally, over a year of looking for a UK manual that was black and within 200 miles with reasonable mileage failed and I got an auto in the end, I'm v.happy with it :)

Is it any particular aspect of the UK car you are really keen to have? Most bits can be added to a J-Spec and if your planned tuning is fairly basic either cars are a good base for a relatively easy 400bhp.

Right then dont want to go into mass battles with people but i DID think uk ones were quicker. Now ive been looking round the site though seems people beg to differ. Should i just buy an import?

Like the leather and bigger brakes only real differances that bother me too much

I shouldn't take long to find a nice UK vs J-Spec debate within the old threads :)

In reality they are pretty evenly matched as far as performance goes, the J-Spec spools quicker, the UK is stronger at the top end, I went UK because I like things such as the ivory leather, I wanted bigger brakes (optional on J-Specs and standard on late models) and I decided the superior fuelling and cooling of the UK car would be good for the mods I had in mind. I also like headlam washers (much to people's amusement) and little things like knowing the outside temp make me happy... I'm weird like that ;)

It's possible to get a J-Spec that is almost identical to a UK (GZ with all the options) but they aren't as easy to find as the more basic RZ models - saying this even an RZ can be spec'd up to be on the way to the UK levels of trim.

In hindsight and knowing what I do now I might have been tempted to go for a premodded J-Spec and then spend a bit on making it mine - there are some good examples around for silly money, a quick look around here should help you find a few that might tempt you.

Out of interest what are you driving at the moment?

Hi Neil - Welcome along :)

The UK cars were only sold from 1994-96 and most of those were autos, so the UK 6 speed is pretty difficult to find. I think that this is the thread for the last one sold on here. Wanting a standard one narrows your search even further.

It's not all bad news tho'. Not all of the UK TT6's have been accounted for, there are some more out there somewhere. Most of their owners will have no idea of the cars value, so if you can find one there is a bargain to be had.

I wont wish you good luck - cos I'm looking for one as well :)

Enjoy the forums.

Last summer i had a 249 bhp rover coupe turbo and blew it up

Bought a 254 bhp escort rs and blew that up so ive just bought myself a X reg DIESEL pug 406 to knock about in for the winter while weather is bad.

Thats why i plan to buy mid april, wanted one since i passed my test and now ive just about got the money to do it, figured aswell (or im hoping) im going to guess that i have a lot less chance of blowing it up as there a lot more reliable (so im told) i have mega heavy foot syndrome :p

Just to calm the nervous of you, I have a friend with a Escort RS Cossie, dynoed at about 300bhp, uprate n stage gubbins etc, and although it is not a trashing I have pretty easily pulled away from him all the way, he ended up about 5 car lengths behind on a 1/4 mile. but the bugger always beats me when we get on the twisty stuff... (mutters, fing 4wd)

Ok mine is a measley N/A but tesco's seem to be very good on soops especially the jspecs. Mine rolls in at a cool £450 plus £50 for protected no claims.

Consider a UK auto as it is the best auto box on the market. There is a thread somewhere on here where a guy has yet to beat his 1/4 mile in his manual that he set in his previous auto!

The box is effectively clutchless manual in first second and third when you podge the manual button. Also considering your penchant for blowing cars up perhaps an auto would live longer LOL! Seriously though the auto box on soops is the smoothest changing box on the planet. I recently test drove a UK auto TT with 60k on the clock full toyota service history priced at 8 grand OK it was white which is why I didnt buy it but they are out there.
