ah im sorry but i really had to laugh at this bit :rlol:

"So, this afternoon, I get Martins Mirrors (they were attempted last Friday but I wasn’t in), which funnily enough had been posted to me using the same packaging I sent mine in to him! Lol, even using the same newspaper packing I had stuffed in there for protection!! So I guess he had received them after all!

Here the punch line, and its three fold:

Part one:

I inspect the mirrors, to find the paint is in terrible condition, scratches everywhere; looks like they have been used are tyres. I was really pissed of with this, but thought f*ck it I’ll just get them re-sprayed when I get my bumper fitted"

Why on earth does Martin have to compensate someone else screwing up and scratching their OWN glass?

If the deal had been a straight purchase of new mirrors, would Martin still be liable for this guy damaging his own stuff during fitting? If so, then Martin owes me a new engine because I lightly scratched mine during fitting a BOV I bought...

(Sorry, just shit-stirring)

Hang on, so let me get this straight.

Martin you sent the chap his own mirrors back, which he didnt realise, and he tried to fit them to his car thinking they were electrically folding?

if that is all true and i havent made a mistake in the translation, this is in line to be thread of the year 2006 :)

*quickly saves thread for posterity*

I still don't see a clear 'good guy' and 'bad guy' conclusion here - I see a lot of people saying Martin has been generous but then I also see a chap that says he got messed around and was sent back his old items but in worse condition.

I'm in 'Judge Judy mode' here but I think we need to hear a response from the original poster before whooping and dancing.

I haven't bought anything from Martin, but as he is in Bristol, close to my parents, I'll be visiting soon to check out the new store.

IMHO from what I've heard & seen on here he is very knowledgeable & a class 1 trader.

Give the chap a chance. We're not here to be judge & jury.

Everyone makes mistakes. Those that don't make mistakes don't make anything!!

Makes sense...

Now I'm lost....Martin sent his original mirrors back (cause he couldnt supply the folding mirrors) and the buyer was complaining about their condition (apparently immaculate before) and didnt notice that they were his own mirrors.....

huh....whats going on???

Not right to name and shame a dealer if the dealer is innocent.....Original post made it seem like the dealer was a complete numpty.

And Martin has just proven the exact reverse to be true.... :D

Actually, I never took his mirrors out of his box as I only opened one end it was obvious what they were and who they had come from when I located the package. So as for being in worse condition, that simply isnt possible. - well not from my end anyway.

But if he wants me to get them resrayed then what can I do but say "fine" - to save my reputaion!
