Supradoopa
I was just on my way back from the shops travelling along the road when i hit a straight bit of road nothing coming and only a van and two other cars in front so thought yeah might aswell go for it it would be rude not to. So as i accelerated (hope i spelt that right) fast down the road well over 100 leptons, my indicator comes on and i begin to pull out now i can see the van is right up the back of this car so thought he won't pull out surely he can see me....... Well yep u guessed it, he decides to pull out when im about a metre and a half off his bumper!! Jammed on my brakes and knew i was going to hit him i had to run off onto the grass verge while he realised that he cut me up and pulled back in! At the time i was proper enraged, just thinking the stupid f**kin £2hr workman could of trashed my pride and joy! Why are van drivers the bain of a motorists life
Soonto_HAS_soop
Well as the speed limit is 70, maybe he didn't expect you to catch him so quickly.

Tom
tbh mate whenever i've began to over take someone in front I think ive rarely looked behind me as you don't expect someone else to overtake the lot behind you, and if your doing 'well over' a 100 he hasent got much time really has he? Tom
Yeah it's sometimes on long straight that anyone can pull out of a side road, scares the crap out of you sometimes knowing 'what if' but I guess you learn from things like this
DrivingTheDream
yeah i guess so just really pissed me off, surely he should of looked in his mirrors. Yup course he should. I always do but there's loads of bad drivers out there.

andrew7
In that situation switch on your headlights (main beam) if you are not sure if he has seen you or not. It shows up more in his mirrors....Not so fashionable these days, but used to be common practice....
Rob
I often do multi-car overtakes on A-roads round my way, and I can say, you have to be really sure that people in the queue are not going to pull out. Don't forget, a lot of people think each person should wait his turn like a good Englishman and thus will never expect a car at the back of a queue to pop out and pass three or four vehicles. Kip
Forward observation, speed limits and never assume anything on the roads. Technically you were in the wrong my friend, you were the one doing 100leptons, he probably didnt realise you were closing so fast.
RobSheffield
i usually drive in daylight with my headlights on, like andrew said, makes you more visable. saying that, had a golf driving fool pull out on me the other day
Angarak
I can't confirm it, but I believe some cars have invisibility cloaks installed on them. Look around your car for a switch so you can turn it off. My last 2 cars have had such cloaks, but I never found the magic button.
Ark
Tough - it was his right-of-way. And if you'd crashed, it would've been your fault.
Bob
So you were doing over 100mph on a public road and were a metre and a half away from his bumper? And it's suddenly his fault? FFS learn to drive safely and responsibly. I doubt you've ever driven a van - if you had you'd realise that they have limited vidibility. If you were that close then he wouldn't have easily been able to see you in his side mirrors. And as for slagging off "£2/hr workmen" - just get a fucking life and grow up. squiffy
yeah i guess so just really pissed me off, surely he should of looked in his mirrors. i know it sounds odd but driving a van has made me a better driver! you get to appreciate how much you fcuk over / get fcuked over by other drivers when im in the car i am more likely to let the vans/lorrys go because i can get back up to speed one hell of a lot quicker then they can, also it drives me mad when cars hogging the middle lane pull over once i have lost all my speed!!!!!! and it takes a while to get going again

I wasn't intending to have a go at van drivers and maybe my comment of "2 hr workmen was harsh but i was pissed off. Im sure you're mr perfect and haven't made a bad judgement in your life, but when u have a van with windows all around! and big f**k off mirrors on the side that pulls out on you after being in the opposite lane for more than 25 metres with my indicator on lets see how you feel...and yes I have driven a van and many other vehicles that you would have to pay £££ to play in. Travelling at over 100mph on a public road and pulling out 1.5m away from his bumper? Have I missed something? and yes I have driven a van and many other vehicles that you would have to pay £££ to play in. Well good for you. Obviously you still haven't learnt to drive any of them responsibly though . . .
