Steve W
This WAS our old 275's on our Antera 309 rear . . 10" (x18") That was the width they advised, but scraped the BU**ERY out of the St/St edging ! ! ! SO, have now got 285's AND they have a bigger 'protector' too (the 275's in pic were Toyo Proxes T1R's the new 285's are Dunlop SP's.. ...trying to find pic of THEM will post if i find one) ? ? ? ? ? ? ? wkdtime
Thanx mate i now know that i defo dont want 275's
Steve W
very BLURRY pic of the 285 ! ! ! sorry but you can see it's sort of 'straight' with the rim (??) i would think a 265 would look at LEAST as stretched as our 275 ??
Matt 6
I run 265/35 on my 9.5J rims. They are very slightly stretched but not much at all. I can take a pic if it helps you at all? Also, check different tyres makes out. There can be a big difference between lets say a Bridgestone 265 and a Dunlop 265. Know the V'Dub boys shop around for the narrowest for there Euro look for the Golf's etc.....

Mmm dint know that, i thought they were all the same, if you can take a pic that would be appreciated, so how would i know which tyre is narrower from lets say a 265 bridgestone and an equivelant size tyre from another brand? Matt 6
There used to be a website that had such info on it, I will see if I can find it for you. It is deffinatly true as I am an Ex V'Dubber and remember trying different brand new tyres until I got the look I wanted!!! Once I have eaten I will pop outside and take a pic of my Wheels for you. I have got Avon's on now on the rear (265/35) and Bridgestone on the front on 8.5J rims (235/40)
Steve W
Oh YEAH, Matt's DEAD right ! The Dunlops are only THEORETICALLY 5mm wider on 'each side' BUT, they don't end-up that way ! ! they are a LOT wider than the 275 (Dunlop v Toyo) I'll go take a similar 'angle' shot to show the diff ??? Steve W
remember, that's only FIVE mm wider in theory ! ! ! and see the REAL difference ?? different makes/styles/protector etc etc. oooops sorry Matt
wkdtime
Cheers Matt, nice looking Supe, its just that i dont know if i should go for 255's rears on the 10" or 265's, i know that the 255's will give the stretched look, but im just wondering if to will the 265's in which case id go for the 265's. Ian W
Cheers mate! looks like ill be going for 255's;) surely that's going to be stretched to the point of compromising safety though. i would have thought 265 would be the narrowest you'd want to go. just my opinion though as i have a 255 on my 8.5j. Obiwan
265 on 10 is stretched for sure. I run a 265 on a 9.5 inch rim and its perfect. Looking for a pic of a 265 on a 10" though to post up for reference but dont know anyone running that setup off hand. Ben
Thorin
er yeah I would have though 255's would be pushing things a bit, 275 or 285 would be ideal width for a 10" rim. And why???
wkdtime
Thorin, guys im not after the best fit so to speak, i want a narrow fit look like the V.dubbers do mate....maybe later when i've grown up and gone single ill go for fatter tyres:D
Thorin
Again I ask why? Looks crap IMO, like you couldn't afford the proper width tyres.
