IDO
I know that many people from the site have a wide ranges of interest and hobbies etc. I was wondering if many were interested in martial arts/ combat sports? Just a general question to see if anyone was? due to when talking to "Charlton" at the SEM i found out that he and his girlfriend train under the instruction of one of my friends at a different gym in the South east and we have been at the same fight shows a few times! I have trouble fitting in my two hobbies, the Supe' (mainly the meets!!!) and training in Thai boxing (Muay Thai) but wouldn't have it any other way! I've been training and helping promoters with shows for around 8/10 years now.. Anyone else out there train, fight or go to shows?
RedM
I do Kendo but haven't been for a while now. Find it hard to get the energy up on a Friday evening TBH. My job leaves me shattered and I'd rather go home and unwind.
IDO
I know how you feel, when i get in from work all i want to do is sit in front of the tv and chill out.. always glad when i get to the gym that i did go though! Have done a tiny bit of Doce Paris (stick fighting), but always wanted to give Kendo a go..
Pete
A lowly green belt Shotokan Karate. Not practiced in about two years though. Keep wanting to get back into it.
Mike
I'd really like to try kick boxing... I'd be like that really tall bloke at the end of Game of Death... ..well in my head anyway.. and he probably wasn't a kick boxer anyway for all I know... Are blokes in their early thirties allowed to take up martial arts or is it just kids? never really been fit enough for it until now... stupra
Hi Ido, i've studied various styles of martial arts throughout the years, aikido being the last one. Before that i'd studied taekwondo, ju jitsu, kempo an a bit of kickboxing, as well as boxing. Dont really get the chance since i was promoted, (though i should make time, i miss competing), plus the kids take up alot of my time. Whereabouts in the south east do you train ?. supraaaaaaaaaa
used to do, a fair bit of mma training, mainly wrestlin and jujitsu but never achieved any belts in it due to it only being for my mma {which freinds were doing at the time} but can hold my own in a ring quite well, but nowhere near a professional level
TreesSZ
four years of aikido, Ukideshi for a guy in Loughborough whilst at uni. dont do it much now because of work, really miss it. A bit of Iado too.
AJI
I used to do Taekwondo and so called 'Street defense' when I was at uni. It was a mixed class of the two diciplins. Did it for three years and tried to keep active in what I learnt. (not by battering random passers by, but by keeping fit and kicking the smeg out of punch bags etc.) I used to be able to do the splits in both directions, usually a winner with the laides But I've seem to have lost the ablility to do that now as I've put on a few more Kg at the gym. toyotatom
I got to Purple belt in Jikishin Ryu JuJitsu but gave it up about two years ago after a massive fall out between the two major members who formed the governing body. It really spoilt it, and even my prefferred club was never the same afterwards. Still own all my weapons and occasionally practice with them just to keep my joints supple-ish. Daston
Do Judo, Unarmed combat (learnt it off my Dad who used to teach it in the army) and also personal self defence (usful when out on the town) I find that other martial arts have too many health and safty stuff you cant actualy practice it propaly at least with judo you can have a good workout and throw another guy around as hard as you want
hogmaw
I do hung gar kung fu which I practice on my own (no clubs around here). I learned it years ago and still practice the basic stuff. Thanks to that I am 38 but still in (reasonably) good shape. The best thing, apart from fitness, is that because of it I have never had to use it ie never had a fight since i was at school

Benn an Collins are top guys, more friendly than some of the other so called, fighting celebs i've meet. (an i've meet a few, though i'll mention no names). Andy-No-Knee
I used to do Shotokan Karate and Goshin/World Ju-Jitsu under a bloke called Micky Player. He was the nuts! Reached my first Dan in both and then work caused me to give it up. Now the missus does Thai Boxing and normal boxing, even trains a few people every now and then. markssupra
Train with my good friend Geoff Thompson regularly. Look him up. Theres a guy you'd want with you when shit and fan meet. Is that the Geoff Thompson who has a few vidoes and is trained in all types of martial arts? Not heard that name for a long time if it is. (It is just looked it up, who better to train with you lucky get) I used to do Muay Thai but the club folded up so moved over to Kick Boxing, but I have'nt trained for about 7 years now what with work, kids and soop. Keep thinking about starting again as I have all the gear, but just feel too knackered after work. Really did enjoy it though. Must be my age.
