Describe EXACTLY what happens, when it happens and what, if anything, you do to upset the automatic process.

when the car is in drive or 2nd the car is fine changes smoothly up and down the box no problems what so ever.:D

when car is in low it changes up to second on its own me not touching anything then when coming to a stop still in low it struggles to go into first :(

im not saying i want to drive it like this.

the point is its not ment to do it obviously theres a fault some where and i want it put right:rolleyes:

from what you describe it sounds to me like the box is acting like the shifters always in '2' even when you've placed it into 'L'

When you say it struggles to go into first, do you mean it just doesn't do it until very low speeds (like when its in drive / 2).

Does the box do what it should when you've selected '2' ? ie it holds this gear til redline ish or does this change up too?

I think i've read in the past that someone looked into converting a auto to a tiptronic, but were told that the auto gearshift actually physically moves things in the box so i'd have thought its mechanical?

I have the toyota manuals so will have a look in there later............

just consulted the manual.

under "upshifts to 2nd while in L range" there are only two areas to look at.

The most likely is "Neutral start switch"

The other is "Engine & ECT ECU (lets hope its the first)

just going to see what test it recommends.......

Absolutely bloody typical.....

the page for this is AT-138

My copy of the manual jumps from AT-137 to AT-144

basically i'm missing AT-138 to AT-143

can someone with a manual check this for MikeyH, also if you have these pages (possible someone in run two or three as i suspect those in the first run are all missing these pages) then i'd like a copy too (will sort you out for cost and postage)
