Ian C
http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/emu_missing_chip/index.html Seems like there was a design flaw that meant ham-fisted people could knock a rather important chip off the board. -Ian
Alex
Which revision are you running?
Tricky-Ricky
Thats interesting Ian, i had an early one, and it seems likely that there was some kind of shorting going on as i kept getting a misfire.
Ian C
I don't know which version I'm running, and I can't be arsed pulling it apart to find out (plus I'm at work) That unit I tested which had all 6 ignition channels reporting a failure probably had this, although it wasn't visible enough to see it when I opened the unit to check the jumper settings... -Ian
JustGav
It turns out on the early units that the components were a little close to the edge and on manufacturing the case they didn't shave it properly.. The new units have had the components moved over slightly to stop it causing problems.

JustGav
Whoops, I was supposed to add that the issue has been spotted on the emanage forum a few weeks back and they were waiting for confirmation from Greddy about the new boards. Apparently some people had even tried tape over the chip to prevent it nudging it off.... that idea didn't work as the tape pushed it even harder...
