Went on Sunday, was a great day, Free Bar, Free food allday, Free shuttle aroudn the complex, Pitlane passes. Only downside was I wasnt allowed to take my camer in the pitlane at any time without a press pass which I didnt have :(

Anyway, just going trough the totis and here is an example of one I took from Copse Grand stand.

Not bad seeing as he was doing over 170mph! - More to follow.

I also went and had a good day. Although it was my first time at the British F1 at Silverstone it would probably be my last.

Not taking away any of the awesomness of the F1 cars as these are truely amazing racing machines, its just that Silverstone is a crap spectators circuit.

We had bronze plus tickets and at £100 they don't get you a seat in any of the grandstands ! They get you a small area to stand IF THERE IS SPACE as determined via the many hundreds of spectator marshals. And as you may have guessed there wasn't any space and therefore we saw the backs of peoples head most of the time.

We did clearly see the start of the race as the cars left the line so all was not lost and then decided to go for a walk around the track during the laps.

But on a hot day when you have to buy drinks at £2+ each and burgers at £3+ each and when a simple dinnertime snack for two people comes to over £10 and when they don't even chill the drinks (they were in a fridge but thought they'd save money by not turning it on), it kinda puts a dampner on things.

I kinda got the feeling that Silverstone takes the attitude of "now we've got your money for your ticket, here's your ticket, fook off and find somwhere to view a bit of the track. If you don't find anywhere then tough $hit. We've allowed some cowboy food vans to park up who should properly rip all your money out of your wallet. if thats not good enough for you then you can bugga off and die"

You know, the typically british way of dong events.

I'm off to watch the F1 at Spa next year by the way. I may organise a club trip over there and maybe tie in some Nurburgring action to boot. (both tracks are only a few miles apart. (well about 60 or so)

+ves of the F1 are:

the amount of foreign totty walking around.

the sounds of the F1 cars

the speed of the F1 cars

if you're rich or have paid a silly amount of money for full access to the circuit, it would be a good day out.

-ves of the british F1 at silverstone are:

if you've not got a ticket which gets you a seat then you're fooked for getting a decent long term view of the action (you can only stand in the seariing heat for so long).

rip off prices for tickets

rip off prices for food (also quality of the food is very low - when buying from a burger type van - not much else choice though)

I couldn't agree more!

I've been about 8 or 9 times, hardly any improvement at all at the circuit for spectators since 1991.

Most of the circuit has a flat viewing area made from broken up asphalt, unless you get right at the front or are 6' 6" tall it's very difficult to see.

We had to get in 4 1/2 hours before the race to get a decent spot.

Some parts have concrete terracing, they need these right around the circuit.

The toilets are totally inadequate for the number of people wanting to use them.

I'm leaving it a few years before I go back, a seat opposite the starting grid would be nice but they'll be very expensive.
