Hi, as most of you know from my post, i've been trying to decide whether to sell the celica and move onto a supra. Ideally im after a straight swap with someone who will appreciate the work thats went into the engine of this car. To be honest im not really interested in a cash sale of the car as we all know you never get what a modified car is worth. Also not interested in swapping for a car thats been molested just for me to have to shell out another fortune to get it right. Ideally im after a six speed.

Fully re-built engine, rods and crank were the only things reused and had only covered 5000miles. Rebuilt due to mild det on piston3(kept as evidence alnog with the other 3)New clutch also and a new box from a 30000mile car.

Car is due for a full map this coming tuesday!

Old spec T78 ran the quarter in 11.1, 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, optimax/26psi/no water injection gave out 555bhp on a conservative map now has a T4 GT35r on it should hold similar figures

I really do like this celica, I can't imagine how quick this thing must feel! a 1/4 time of 11.1 is incredible! what was the terminal speed of that? and was this on street tires? had I not been going away and just sold mine I probably would have swapped my old one with you!

Thanks, I can't really imagine how quick its going to be either but i'll know exactly how quick it is after its mapped on tuesday with the GT35R. I have the time slip lying around somewhere, it was given to me by its previous owner. It was a fensport employees car I take no credit for the times of this car these were all done by Andy Ashby. Basically when I bought it, I took it to Adrian and had a map in it for progressive boost and maximum of 1.8bar, I imagine the times set would be at different settings. When it had the lambda metre on it at the rollers it was running nice and rich which I was happy with as it kept everything nice and det free. The 555bhp was on this conservative setting. I know Andy ran road legal slicks for his 11.1 time.

Hopefully someone will snap this up in a swap and give me a new base with a supra[GRIN][/GRIN]

Anyone considering this please send a pm, and ask as many questions as you like. I have really made my mind up to go for the supra now. It goes for its full map tommorow and after that its ready to go! I'd ask for those interested in swapping to pm as soon as possible, as im the impulsive type and am likely to get impatient and just sell it so I can get a supra quicker:) . As said before I am only after a six speed. Will be going for a test drive in one this saturday to make my mind up once and for all

Right its been a long journey but the car is finally there phew,

Took her for her mapping session on tuesday, came home and on the road home after it was mapped by the dentist at 1.85bar she was hitting 2bar(colder weather) and hitting the fuel cut, she felt slow, boost was hesitant and she wasn't getting anywhere fast.

So from there I sent an email to him, but took the car to Paul Bartolo. Straight away Paul noticed there was a major fluctuation in boost and that the engine felt like it was holding back. At this time the dentist had called me, responding to a depressing email, when I said someone else was now looking at it, he was a bit miffed but still was willing to help. Anyway he baffled me with compression ratio checks and cams and said to wait till next tuesday and take it up to him and he was willing to help for free(it cost me £60 in petrol to get there) I had already given £350 for a mapping session that I would have expected he would have noticed how bad the car was then! Also had to buy a boost soleniod and fit it while he made himself some lunch sat with his feet up watching the football while I was paying him £350(no reciept so Id guess tax free that will be) because I was told he wasnt able to control the boost with mine mmm fensport managed it! I dont know enough about them to argue(but I will however be finding out)

Anyway after the call I said to Paul he had free ranes on the car and to do what he thought was right to get it sorted. Well his first check was spot on my timing was miles off a full 10-15 degrees retarded. So from there Paul set the timing up, we went out and he wrote a full new map for the car, and the car is an absolute dream to drive now. Instead of doing what the previous mapper done(fling as much boost at her as the injectors can handle) he set it up at a nice 1.5bar for now with a conservative map that has plenty of potential for more advance. I was told by the previous mapper my turbo wasnt going to be any good unless it had 2 bar boost, i'd have to say Wrong!!! The car is a million times better than the T-78, the torque off the GT35R is amazing the car feels so fast compared to what it was before and we are only running 1.5bar. I am so happy with the whole car, and can't honestly thank Paul Bartolo enough for his mapping.

I am on the verge of saying forget selling her she feels so good. Anyway anyone wishing a proper mapping session id highly recommend Paul, he maps most engine management sytems. He built his own engine so hes not just a tune to mapping he can aid in any engine issues aswell.

Hi,

mmm no one interested in a swap:search:. Tried to get a test drive of a supra today but the garage weren't even willing to take me out as a passanger because he wasn't interested in taking a trade in on my car:rolleyes: . So I won't be buying from them if the celica sells for money and not a swap.

hmm, i wonder if i could talk the misses into buying a new car...nah best not she'd absolutly kack herself  :scared: :faint:

[GRIN][/GRIN] I can quite image she would the torque in second and third is enough to make me kack myself! Im so pleased the car has got this stage, there aren't many good supras about at the moment and i've not ahd any serious offers from a supra owner, I may end up swaping for a skyline soon, they seem to be more happy to swap, its strange though as its the 33gtr they wish to swap all the time and in terms of cost its on par if not over the cost of the TTsupra, id have thought id have more interest in the supra camp:(

After some reading up and some scare stories think i'll be sticking to looking at supras rather than skylines! Obviously there is a reason i'm getting offers of 33's in exchange, anytime I mention I will do a compression test and a leak down test they never get back mmm funny that! Skyline seems to much of a risky buy to me! will sick to my original decision and hold out for a supra!

No one after a new toy:rolleyes: £10,000 is incredibley cheap, believe me add up the spec and costings from fensport! Its on ebay now:( im after mr_maj's supra so someone make us both happy! You won't believe the acceleration off the celica, no ones even came as far as a test drive! I had 2 offers of 10k before she was mapped then as requested I contacted them back after it was ready and they had bough other cars! Its been the dedication to get the car totally complete before I sold that seems to be my down fall:(

Reduced to £9500, hope at this price someone will take the time to come and view it rather than just the calls and emails I keep getting that all seem to turn out to be a waste of my time:tongue: . Think I should make a phone machine that can answer the same questions over and over, and a typing machine[GRIN][/GRIN]
