Roy
hi guys - i would like to know from those who are either contemplating or have had their brake rotors changed as to which brand would be good for the supe. i currently have the UK brake set-up (front n back) and am looking at changing the rotors only and it must fit this set-up ie. like sized rotors for a direct swop. some of the brands i have been looking at are 3g, brembo, proj mU (my fav) and stoptech/tarox/red dot etc.... TIA.
SimonB
I think the general concensus is that you can't do much better than the stock ones.
Roy
i was hoping that slotted ones like the 3g/brembo n proj mU ones would offer increased stopping power and fade resistance ? i am going to run endless pads and just wanted to upgrade the rotors soon as well ... Roy
no other opinions then people aside from simon's ?
jagman
im using slotted rotors -cant see how they are any better than stock, i think pad selection is more critical
Roy
thanks - thats another vote in favour of the stock rotors then ...

You're not going to get any more stopping power, after all the stock ones are easily ably to lock the wheels and cause the ABS to cut in, so you can't stop any faster than that. What you might get is better fade resistance as you say, but unless you're doing long sessions round a track the stock ones aren't going to fade IMHO. SkyJawa
I asked this when I was upgrading my brakes last month, and the consensus seemed to be stock ones are fine. If I were to change them for something else, I'd personally go with a disks and bells solution as IMHO just a disk upgrade isn't a big enough/worthwhile jump for the extra cash involved. With bells and disks it makes the disks very difficult to warp as the bell/hub part doesn't get as hot......
Roy
thanks neil - was sorta coming to that solution myself, albeit more slowly !

Guest Terry S
Originally posted by Roy hi guys - i would like to know from those who are either contemplating or have had their brake rotors changed as to which brand would be good for the supe The are fcuking discs. Don't go all American on me. The UK Discs are best VFM. I have managed to crack or warp every set I have put on the car, be they stock, grooved etc.

Guest Terry S
The Project Mu would be my choice if they weren't so bloody expensive. The DBA Gold look good, but no one has tried them that I know of. It maybe be your TIRES that are causing the ABS to come on. Driving below 20 mph will not get the P Zero's hot enough to function. Think of them as a woman, they take ages to get them as you want them then once they do, they stick like fcuk, and will only let go when severely provoked:innocent:

Nic
I have Project Mu discs/pads on the front with UK-spec calipers which I am very happy with. The Project Mu set up made a noticable difference over stock but as has already been said this is probably due to the pads rather than discs. http://www.project-mu.co.jp/e/product/scr-pro.html

Chris Wilson
Any TUV approved stock disc, modestly grooved if you must. No drilled, no silly coatings, no silly names, just common or garden quality discs are best. Spend the money on pads, that's where the benefits will show. Good pads are expensive. Period. Roy
chris - thank you for the input. it was my intention to look at 6-8 grooves on just such a disc - period . i was also thinking of swopping the fronts and leaving the UK rears (of course changing pads all-round). Guest Terry S
Yes. But don't buy cheap. I would still go stock especially the way you drive. Infact they sell some plastic AP copies in Halfrauds, that may work:innocent:

Guest Terry S
Glad you liked it Paul, ROYBOY ignored it as he is all loved up and won't dare diss a woman now;) Actually Paul, why not try and add DBA to your product range. See http://www.dba.com.au for the UK distributor details. I have heard very good reports on them before, but the guy quoted Matt about twice what I could have bought them for 1 year ago direct from OZ. If you do your usual blagging you will be able to sell at a decent price, I am sure.

ROFL ... paul - ignore him - he's just a heathen ....... DBA's aren't bad, i had an older set a while back on a diff car and had a ride in a car with that new kangaroo system. fairly impressive (legacy b4). el tel - the plastic halfrauds one was good, the best work i've seen from you in a while ....
