sarjo
Only a little one, but shouldnt have one at all. You may remember I had a problem a few weeks ago with the wiring burning through on my fuel tank carrier connectors to my pumps. Well thanks to Jezzybabes I obtained a new tank carrier and spent a couple of hours yesterday re-wiring and fitting to the car. I replaced the soft copper washers, put it all back together and wicked - it worked and no leaks - or so I thought. There is a very, very small amount of fuel coming from underneath the black ring that twists on top holding it in place. It was getting dark when I noticed this but have confirmed it again this morning. The twist on round bit went on fine (not cross threaded) and fitted tight and the rubber on the tank carrier is sound, so any ideas where this very small amount of fuel is seeping from and what can I do to eliminate it? Thought it was on nice and flat and tight, but maybe not. Tightened it by hand then tapped it on round a bit more with a rubber hammer (only thing I'd got to give it that last twist )
terribleturner
How much further do you think it went on when you tapped it round?? It will go on quite a little bit more after going hand tight. If you have a blunt screwdriver or something similar you can push against one of the rivets and then tap it you will find it easier. I'd take it off all thee way and try again if i were you. It's a pain but you'll get it 100% in place soon.
sarjo
Even though I've re-wired it as it was, I now have the low fuel light constantly on at the dash too. . any ideas?
terribleturner
Could be the float hasn't gone down properly. When you unscrew the black ring, just pull the craddle out a little, look down at the float attached and make sure it's hanging down (black box). You could always pull it up and let it down again just to check it's alright.
